Magnum P.I. continuation with Lily “Tommy” Magnum

He could be (though very unlikely after he missed 10 years of service), but I'm not sure what that has to do with it.

He could have a desk job, I suppose, but he doesn't strike me like a desk person. And honestly, I'd have to assume Robin Masters is long gone now and that he'd want Thomas to have the house. They could also have him only appear in the pilot and then play up the fact that he's never home, just like Robin Masters.

So we're not sticking with the theory that Higgins IS Robin Masters, then?

Well, if he'd stayed in the navy that long, it's pretty much a given that he'd have a desk job. But regardless, under federal law, mandatory retirement age for military officers is 64. For three- and four-star admirals/generals, the president may extend it to 68.

You got me there... :D I guess I should have said that he always "appeared unavailable".

Yeah, and he'd likely want to retire to the old homestead. Maybe as the new caretaker. Maybe in a letter where Higgins is finally revealed to be Masters ;)

They should cast Harrison Ford as Magnum just to really piss off Tom Selleck.

Harrison Ford with a big bushy mustache then? ;)

Well, for a character named Lily to have the nickname "Tommy", maybe there is some supernatural element involved.

In season three, we had the cursed Hawaiian god and Magnum encountered a ghost while swimming once.

Ghosts, premonitions, psychic connections, visions. They were in quite a few episodes.
"quite a few"? spread over 8 seasons? Roughly 176 episodes? No, there may have been the few "possibly supernatural", usually accompanied by a wink and a nod to the audience. But that doesn't make Magnum P.I. a paranormal show any more than CSI.

Yeah ok. It's an element of the original, that's all I was trying to say. I have a suspicion that the new show will be super serious in comparison.

Hey... Even the Walton's had a "supernatural" type episode.. When Elizabeth turned 13, all manner of weird and scary stuff started happening around the house. I was pretty little at the time, but I remember it being a pretty spooky show. And yes, I used to watch the Waltons. lol

On a related note, it never fails to boggle my mind, the weird memories I retain...
