As much as I think about being a mafioso in the fictional sense, I think this really just illustrates the reality. They're a bunch of thugs and psychopaths with an organization (if that) to their name. The Camorra are among the worst, though. A scourge on southern Italy.

Too fucking true. Mafia is bad, but Camorra is even worse. Mafia comes from the Sicilian countryside, farmers and shepherds, and they have an history of defending poor people against barons and exploiters (for a good share of the pie, obviously), so there was a modicum of respect and decency in them, at least in old times.
Camorra comes from the big cities in Campania, Naples, Caserta, Sorrento, and they are mostly thug gangs that feed off the poor and weak in derelict neighborhoods.
