Mad Men...Does it get any better?

OK so I watch the first 2 episodes on Netflix streaming and I have to say I'm very underwhelmed, Does it get any better or is it pretty much like the first two episodes?

I'm trying to give it the benefit being that it is the first few episodes and some shows just need to get their legs before they are really good but this one just hasn't hooked me like other shows have from the start.

It's been on for 4 seasons or so, there has to be something there people like so please tell me it gets better.

The show becomes addictive, like crack cocaine. Give it a chance. The characters become more complex the further along it goes.

Be warned, though. Draper is the shit, no matter what shit he pulls and Betty is a friggin' bitch.

Water is wet. The sky is blue.

Betty Draper is a bitch.

It took me a few episodes to get into it, too, but yeah, it gets a lot better, though I'm only up to the third season (a few episodes away from the season finale).

I had exactly the same reaction the first time I tried to watch Mad Men, when the first season came out on DVD, and dropped it as a result.

I decided to give it another chance a couple of years later, and I'm glad I did. Once I pushed through the first couple of episodes (again), I found that the show did get better--much better. I would recommend sticking with it.

like most people it took me a few episodes to get into the show and now im addicted. cant wait for the next season to start just wish they would hurry up.

It bored me too. It was just another soap opera where I didn't care about characters selling adds on Madison avenue.

Betty Draper is a bitch.

Don's a philandering asshole a thousand times over who couldn't be bothered to have a cup of coffee with his long lost brother, who was all alone in the world. We know how that ended.

For all of Don's faults he's not the emotionally abusive parent that Betty is which is why Betty is much more hated than Don.

Watched two more episodes last night and it still hasn't hooked me.
I'm gonna give it one, maybe two more and if I haven't seen something mildly entertaining I'm dropping this puppy.
At this point there isn't a single cast member that interests me, they are all hum drum and boring and I'm not going to watch one or two seasons to get hooked.

Funny...I just got the first disc of Season 1 of Mad Men off Netflix recently and had the same reaction after trying the first two episodes. It was just boring and while I understand it all goes hand in hand with the time and setting of the show all the blatant sexism, cheating and silly enough the smoking all rubbed me the wrong way. The acting, cinematography and writing were great, I will give it credit for all that...it just failed to capture me.

Pete Campbell. Now there is one complex character. I never hated Pete in spite of the things he did. Somehow, Kartheiser always made me like him in spite of everything, and it isn't matinee idol good looks. Kartheiser is criminally underrated. I was soooo glad when Don paid Pete's share of the new company after Pete had to give up that huge account basically because of Don's hidden past bullshit.
