According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mad About You looks to follow the footsteps of Will & Grace and Roseanne with a revival of its own.

Sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that the independent studio has had informal talks for a potential eighth season of the Emmy-nominated comedy that starred Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt. No deals are in place and a network is not currently attached. Sony TV declined comment.

Both Reiser, who co-created the series alongside Danny Jacobson, and Hunt would return for the revival. NBC, which aired all seven seasons of the comedy, is not currently in the mix for the reboot, which would be set in the present day and follow Paul and Jamie in the wake of their 17-year-old daughter, Mabel's college acceptance. (That would also indicate that the series finale, which jumped ahead two decades, would be totally disregarded a la the Will and Grace and Roseanne revivals.)

I already know plenty of people will hate this possibility and bemoan the current trend of reviving old classics, but if it means erasing the flashforward finale, then I'm all for it! I love Janeane Garafalo, but I hated the finale. Besides, I'll never tire of Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt.

One of my favorite sitcoms, I hope plenty of the supporting actors like Anne Ramsay or John Pankow will return as well.

What about RIchard Kind? Actually I only watched the show now and then and can't say I am just dying to see the show again. It might be interesting to check out though. I guess we can at least cross this off the list I mentioned before. This list contains every 80's and 90's tv show and they are running down it picking show after show and they will do it until the list is completely finsihed. Then they start the list over but then add in early 2000 shows as well!

I used to love that show until they had a kid. It spoilt the whole thing.

I thought the same exact thing. It's Mad About You, but as soon as the kid came it's Mad About a Crying Baby.

At least in this we will only see the kid probably 1-2 times as the point is she is off to college.

I liked Mad About You just fine when it was on, but like all other 90's shows getting a revival, I just don't understand the need for it.
At least Coach was killed before before it made it to the screen. Still expecting news of a Major Dad reboot.

I'm hoping for The Nanny to return. Plus Golden Girls. Betty White lives in the same house from the show after everyone else died. So she gets lonely and the children / grandchildren of all the characters move in with her. Crazy shit happens.

God, I couldn't stand Paul Reiser -- still can't. I used to say he stole his stand up act from another comedian, but for the life of me I can't recall the name of the comic from whom he stole it. His painful attempts at acting in Aliens, a movie I love, ruined every scene he was in. Stranger Things is the first thing I've ever seen him in where I wasn't rolling my eyes at every word that came out of his mouth.

I will be shocked if a new Mad About You isn't as much of a waste of prime time television as it's predecessor.

Well he is good in "Aliens" but he is one of those bad guy types that you kind of root for to die and when he does die you feel like he got what he deserved. As for the type of comedian he was I think he is kind of like the poor man's version of Jerry Seinfeld if I recall.

Wasn't Cyndi Lauper on the show as well? I think they owned a dog as well.

Jason
Lauper played Cousin Ira's ex-wife, but she was only in two or three episodes spread over different seasons, so I doubt they'd bring her back.

Murray, though, ... Shit, there's no way Murray is still alive. And upon realizing that, I'm not sure I want a revival.

I like the concept of taking a look at all these characters after about 20 years have passed and they have lived on their fictional lives. I can't wait to see Roseanne again (mainly because i'm a huge John Goodman fan but the show was funny as hell apart from the final season) and Mad About You was also a gem from the 90s so i'm looking forward to it too.

As long as they are capable of recapturing what made these shows great and timeless i don't have any problem with it.

Waiting on the huge bomb when and if Friends will follow with a reunion season.. i think that would be something.

O God.. just remembered the dog :guffaw::guffaw:

"Run run run.. boom!" or when they came into the appartment and Murray was just standing on the dinner table.. "Well, that's new.. "

It's not like these reboots are a new thing; The Waltons had several movies years later showing what happened.
