Exactly. It smacks of gatekeeping.Of course, but the sensible thing to do is to try to rebrand that as something positive, not to say, "Yay, elitism!"

Yes, we need the master with over 30+ years of studying Treknology to weigh in.Screw Trekyards, I want to know what James Dixon thinks of Lower Decks!
STAR TREK is ELITIST. It's about the very best of humanity. It shows us a universe where humanity has evolved to be GREAT at what it does. For the past eleven years...TREK has been dumbed down to appeal to the every person. The trailer for LOWER DECKS is the nadir of TREK.
Somehow I don't think they're either Vulcans or Romulans, because looking at the trailer again, I noticed we actually do get so see both. And neither looks purple-ish.Definitely look new to me.
The two at the bottom right definitely look Gorn to me, but the one on the left, not so much. Might be a youngster.
As for the two women, I'd say possibly Vulcan or more likely Romulan. The neutral facial expression with the arched eyebrow on the one on the right makes me think Vulcan, but the rather angry look on the left seems more Romulan, so I guess I'm going with that for both. Twin Romulan sisters with different hair color. Interesting how they went with purple and yellow there - complimentary colors - may be an indication of their personalities as well.
Those pointy-eared ladies with the purple-ish skin aren't Vulcan, are they?
I thought of that, but then again they recently showed the new chief engineer (Lt. Commander Andy Billups) , who is ostensibly human, yet has a distinctively lavender hue to his Jeff Foxworthy visage, compared to other lighter-toned crew-members like Ensign Boimler (who always seems to have a rather unpleasant look on his face):Somehow I don't think they're either Vulcans or Romulans, because looking at the trailer again, I noticed we actually do get so see both. And neither looks purple-ish.
