Spoilers Lower Decks General Discussion Thread

From what I've seen so far it reminds me alot of Final Space which is well worth a watch especially when it gets into season 2

I watched the first season. I found it pretty good but I couldn’t STAND the main character. He just irritated so me much I didn’t find sufficient motivation to invest in the second season.

Fair enough. The main guy is a bit of a dumbass alright andband judging by the ads the lower decks lead is quite similar to him. The robots and a couple of the new guys in season 2 really cracked me up with one scene in particular being the most I laughed out loud at a TV in years

I liked Season 1 of Final Space, and I even liked the main character, and I can definitely see some similarities.
But yeah, somehow I've never gotten around to watching season 2 of ES, you say it's better than season 1, @TimeIsAPredator ?

Is this the first time we’ve seen a Ferengi in this show, or was he in a previous trailer?
No, we've actually seen a Ferengi before in one of the stills.

To those who spotted the Argo in the MSD we saw in the first trailer: Looks like we'll see it in action as well …

Why is a nurse assigned to cleaning the briefing room?

Because she's Lower Decks, gets all the shoddiest jobs and can't refuse an order from one of the Bridge Crew (who either doesn't know or doesn't care that she's a nurse, or, considering the humour they are probably going for, doesn't know that the duties of nurses doesn't include cleaning) ;)

Though judging from what we have seen of her, she might be doing this in her spare time because she considers it "an honour"

Makes me actually wonder, in the universe of TNG...who cleaned the ship? Did they have a cleaning crew? Who would voluntarily do a job like that in a cashless society?
I guess little cleaning robots would make the most sense, but 90s Trek seemed reluctant to show stuff like that.

[Ten paragraph rant about writer's ignorance, the proper role nurses, who should be cleaning the briefing room and a vow that I can only hate-watch this show now.]

Just because she's in blue doesn't mean she's a nurse. Or has she been identified as such and I've missed it?

IIRC, she has been identified as a nurse somewhere. But, also, she's wearing white boots, just like the Caitian doctor. White boots seems to be how this show differentiates the medical personnel from everybody else, who wear black boots. I suspect this is somewhat influenced by the fact that medical personnel on Disco wear white uniforms as opposed to the blue uniforms worn by everyone else.

I would. I do it voluntarily at work now some times. Nowhere near my job description but still willing to help out.

Agreed. I often clean out my office. I’ll even vacuum it. We have a cleaning staff who do a great job — but if I can make their job easier, why not? (And I gain nothing whatsoever from cleaning my own office.)

Well Mariner wasn't annoying for once, so that's a positive. Nothing there was funny though? Not sure if that's the intention.
