Loved the film but a few things that irked me (ja spoilers)

1. Kirk gets winded after throwing a few punches at Khan
-James t Kirk does NOT get winded throwing a few punches
Right after fighting a Klingon patrol. Plus it made a fantastic mirror for his hitting the nozzle in the warp core later on.
3. In the first film the warp cores were in the big aluminum beer silo tanks. This film we got one main warp core
- beer silos still very much there, why not activate one of those warp cores if cores removed why are the beer silos still there?
I'm guessing they were different parts of the same warp system. I still have no clue what that little side engineering room in Wrath of Khan was for, or what that pipe Spock opened up was meant to be. I don't expect to ever understand this one any better:rommie:
4. Khan announces my name is... Khan
- how bout saying my name is Khan Noonian Sing and Spock and or Kirk recognizing and saying something like one of earths most brutal tyrants
Kirk and Spock prime didn't recognize their Khan until they looked him up.
5. Impulse deck refit sorry hate it
- secondary hull needs more belly and pushed back along connecting dorsal, main thing that needed tweaking impulse deck was awesome
That new impulse engine will look great when they separate the saucer.

4. Khan announces my name is... Khan
- how bout saying my name is Khan Noonian Sing and Spock and or Kirk recognizing and saying something like one of earths most brutal tyrants
That would have been too fanboyish. What they did was better for simple name recognition and dramatic effect, and following it up later with Spock Prime was the right call.

I've seen it three times (with different people), and each time the air went out of the room at the part because everyone was gasping at the same time. I think it was done well.

What irks me is that he doesn't throw in some Kirk chops.

That wasn't the warp core in the first movie.

Exactly. If the warp core works in a way similar to a nuclear reactor, those were probably tanks of water to cool down the core to keep it from overheating (considering that it was labeled "inert reactant").

2. Bones standing next to Spock during Nimoy scene and no quip?
- How bout heaven help me there are two of you, nimoy raises brow and smirks. Would have made me cry

This one is brilliant.

Definitely a missed opportunity now that you mentioned it.

-Chris

I'd think McCoy has known about the existence of Spock Prime, so seeing him wouldn't have been a surprise.

Still, if this was the first time the two were face to face (so to speak), it would've been neat for Spock Prime notice McCoy, raise an eyebrow, nod toward him, and say, "Doctor." Then again, it was not exactly an appropriate moment for the social niceties.

It wasn't the right time for humour. Would have felt completely out of place.
Depends on the writer. Had Whedon wrote it, for example, there would've been a joke there. And it would have been brilliant.

I think Ortzman could have pulled it off.

Dilithium chamber. You're welcome.

Yes they were, there were about ten warp cores in the first film each under an aluminum beer silo
So sollly u be wrong

How do you know this saucer can separate

No it's about context
Khan is as common a name as steve and as a title it's like saying one is a baron
My name, ... Is Steve!!
Has about the same impact. My name is Khan Noobian Sign is like saying I'm unfrozen Adolf Hitler

But canon supports that Khan is not nearly on the same level of historical infamy as Hitler. Besides, Hitler isn't even the most historical infamous tyrant to date. Most of his predecessors have simply been relegated to academia over the centuries. It's easy to assume the same fate for Khan by Kirks era.

In "Space Seed" he announces his name as simply Khan and nothing more. Maybe the context was different in that he didn't want to reveal his whole identity, but I think they were keeping with that somewhat.

KHAN: Khan is my name.
KIRK: Khan. Nothing else?
KHAN: Khan.

Yup he was being sly in space seed
As soon as they had the Noonian sign part they knew exactly who he was

And I love our new better than Data lobot guy

Looking back, one of the few things that irks me is the weapons. I didnt see one photon torpedo being used in the entire movie (I mean fired at a ship). And I didnt see 1 phaser being fired. Unless you count those pulse phaser thingies.
And why do all the space battle scenes have to be so fast and hard to make out? I cannot wait till I get the Blu-Ray and am able to slow all that stuff down to "normal" speed.

He may not have been the worst, but he IS the most infamous.

Pretty sure the Vengeance fired photon torpedoes at the Enterprise because they are the only weapons that can be used at warp speed.

No. He's only the most infamous for your perspective because it was only 70 years ago and there are still people who were a live when he was.

300 years from now, he won't be.

^^Trek's used phasers at warp throughout it's 45 year history, and the Vengeance did in this movie too. The myth that they can't be used at warp is a from the old TNG Technical Manual

When the Vengeance's balls-of-death detached, one fired a photon torpedo (with neat new smoke trail) which blew the front of the Enterprise's nacelle to bits.
