If that's what this forum is coming to, I'm going to petition T'Bonz to secede from Misc!
As far as seceding from the United States, it's one of those things that I think might sound good when your guy loses the election, but being practical, it'll be a total disaster.

The BBC News website is reporting on this story. They're also reporting that Texas has surpassed the 25,000 signatures needed for the White House to issue a response.

It has nothing to do with a Democrat in the White House, and you know it. It has everything to do with him being a super-secret-Kenyan-socialist-Nazi-communist-Muslim. Oh, wait, no. It has nothing to do with those things. It's because of the color of his skin. Plain and simple. I said it, I stand by it, and those racist nutjobs might as well stop denying it.

It's a combination of all of those things, really, fueled mostly by the Right-Wing Media (Fox) and the more extreme members of the current Republican party. They're not trying to make this country better by having both sides work together to find and equitable solution they just want to create dissent.
And, yeah, I suspect a good touch of "racism" is in play as well.
