Louis CK

Bob The Skutter

Complete Arse Cleft
In Memoriam
I've never really seen much of Louis CK's work but I've been told he's really good a lot. Well a few days ago he put up a website selling his latest show as a download for $5. You get the show as an DRM free download, SD and HD versions.

Now I've not yet watched the show, but however good or bad it is I think this is a great experiment at direct selling on the internet. He's taken the initiative and took the risk of producing and selling it himself. So anyone who likes Louis CK or might be interested here's the website to check out.

Yeah I'm a huge fan and thought the show was hilarious. And apparently it's paid off really well, so he'll be doing more like this in the future.

I'm a big fan and glad this is paying off for him. It's also worth pointing out that his television show, Louie, is one of the best comedies that's been produced in the past ten years (though I should point out that, at times, it can be deadly [and intentionally] serious).

It's nowhere near as funny as Lucky Louie was. That was the absolute best thing he's ever done.

Other than a moment here and there (such as the masturbation debate) I don't find his show funny at all. But it's a brilliant drama, like watching a thirty minute indepenedent film every week. I wouldn't miss it.

I was digging Louis season one... but where you say "serious" I think it's taken a turn toward "pretentious drivel." But I might check out his comedy special, I do appreciate the business model, and the stand-up portions of Louie are consistently good.

I had forgotten all about the new show being sold this way! [Runs off to purchase instantly]

Great to read on the site that the idea has been a success too. Here's hoping more people learn from this example. Cheap, easy, quality download = sale!

His show does get a bit arty and introspective at times, but I don't think I'd ever characterize it as "pretentious."

In fact every time he comes close to being preachy (like with his big "life is good" speech to the guy wanting to kill himself), he immediately deflates the moment. And he certainly has no problem making himself look like the idiot in the end.

Louis C.K. stands right now as one of my favorite present-day comedians in a world full of "rock star"-like comedians Louis C.K. brings a nice dose of "everyman" to his comedy.

His show, Louie, is pretty good too if oddly paced and produced It's hard to latch onto a show with no overall arcing theme or secondary characters beyond the titular character. But it's a good show, overall.
