Lost era round 2?

If they made another set of LE novels what would you like to see?

1. Federation Cardassian war maybe feature the Rutledge
2 More on the Tzenkethi we got a glimpse but I want more
3. More on the Formation of the Federation

^Well, of those, only the first two would actually fall in the Lost Era (which is defined as the interval between the Generations prologue in 2293 and "Encounter at Farpoint" in 2364). And I think they'd be more "Round 3," since Round 2 was The Buried Age and the Terok Nor trilogy.

I'd like to see more centered around the forming of the Fed-Klingon alliance we see in the TNG/DSN/VOY era.

I'd like to see more of the Enterprise B under Harriman. I really enjoyed Serpents Among the Ruins.

More of the border conflicts that seemed to be going on like the Tzenkethi and Cardassian wars would be nice too.

Don't forget the Talarians. Perhaps a nice trilogy of "Border skirmishes" books? A Cardassian War, Tzenkethi War and Talarian War novel.

Not wanting to focus too much on war again, but since these were localized conflicts that kept Starfleet busy but didn't impact the entirety of the service or pose a major threat beyond the afflicted sectors, it shouldn't stray into "that" sort of story.

On the more peaceful side, I want novels exploring how worlds we know were brought into the Federation. How about a Grazerite story, or an Arbazan story or a Bolian story? Create a premise revolving around one of the races we know is part of the Federation by TNG times but wasn't in TOS times.

Moving outside a strictly defined "Lost Era" context, why not a TOS-era first contact novel? Show Starfleet meeting the Betazoids or the Efrosians, and whatever happens there...it's a bet of a pet peeve of mine that new TOS-era races keep being invented when there are so many later-established existing species to choose from.

I want to see the Federation family being assembled over these two centuries...

All these requests for war stories. If Star Trek were supposed to be about war, it would've been called something like, ohh, Star Wars. And nobody would watch a franchise with such a silly name. :D

I think the conflict with the Cardassians has been adequately covered in books like Mosaic, Pathways, and Terok Nor.

And there wasn't a "Talarian War." There were just a few border conflicts at places like Galen IV and Castal I.

^ But you gotta admit, World War III in the Star Trek universe was a MAJOR plot point. I don't think they should just leave us hanging like that. Do more than just toss us a few table scraps like "ECON", I would like to know WHO the ECON are, who the other factions were, who started the war, who survived it, how Earth recovered so quickly, etc. That's not too much to ask, is it? The Cardassian conflicts have been covered, but WWIII has not. Ever. That I'm aware of.

Side note: The author of the VERY excellent fanfic First Contact: The Iron Horse (posted right in the Fan Fiction forum here) is, from what I hear, planning on expanding it into a full length novel. It's a post-WWIII epic. Highly recommended. :techman:

All these requests for war stories.

Well, when it comes to prominant established events within the "Lost Era", wars and conflicts are the ones that come to mind, even if they don't define the era. :)

Personally, I'm not actually interested in the war itself - I'm interested in filling in those gaps in our knowledge. I want to know the Talarians better...

And, yeah, okay, "Talarian War" is a stretch, it was the "Galen Border Conflicts". My sensationalist reporting...

A Cardassian War, Tzenkethi War and Talarian War novel.

Not wanting to focus too much on war again

I much prefer exploration to war or skirmishes.

Oh, me too, if it were exploration Vs newly invented wars and conflicts. Exploration is far preferrable to creating a new conflict, most of the time. But even better than exploration (to me at least) is fleshing out established aspects of the universe, and when we have conflicts established but not explored, I want to find out more about them. :)

Little continuity details must be seized upon and transformed into bloated in-depth accounts of Trek history, or life is not worth living.

I'd like to see the Enterprise-B after Harriman's tenure. Nothing against Harriman--I like what the novels have done with the character--but Serpents Among The Ruins ended with one door of the Enterprise legacy closing and another one beginning...
