Because of the title, I keep thinking that Locke takes a job as a substitute teacher.

In all seriousness though, this episode is either in line with "The Constant" and "The Variable" from last season, or...

...it's the first part of another episode pair that continues later in the season with 6x14: "The Candidate".

Whoops, sorry guys, I've been incredibly slack this season with my spoilers. So, here's just a little tidbit to keep you all going.

Locke will utter the words:

I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth.

I'm having a feeling that UnLocke is going to kill Sawyer and bring him back from the dead like Sayid with the infection so he can become a new addition to his side.

So then Jack again, then Sun and Kin, then Charlie! :techman:

Looking forward to this Locke episode. My personal hype has died down to reasonable levels now after last week, but I have a small hunch this will be better.

Agent Richard07 Why do you have a compass in the pic? Is there a reference to compass in the ep or just a cool pic?

If referenced, I wonder... Are they going to talk about the magnetic field buildup etc. that the Dharma science guys did early on?

There's no reference to a compass in this episode that I know of. I change the style of the banners every season and this season, I decided to go with pictures of things that represent the featured characters, set against light and dark gradients. The general banner for Season 6/LA X had a game of backgammon and Kate's banner had her toy plane. I thought that a compass was appropriate for Locke. It represents qualities like his love for adventure and survival in the wilderness, and finding direction in life. The others have similar themes. For example, Desmond will have a sailboat and Jack, a stethoscope.

I am betting my house, car, life savings, wife and children that it will be immensely better than last week's episode titled Filler.

The Substitute? Is this where Tom Berenger and/or Treat Williams show up on the island and put both Jacob and the Man in Black in their place? :)

Went "above average." It was SO much better than last week's episode and seemed to move the story along. I say "seemed" because I'm not sure I believe a word NotLocke says.

Definitely a better outing all-round than last week. The narrative was more tightly focused and the characterizations were better. Still as confusing as all hell, though ...

Voted above average, not quite excellent. Alt-Locke's story was a bit slow, but the end had me 'ing. And some questions were sort of answered...but what the heck does all of it mean? :guffaw:

Ah, that was much better than the first three. Cool to have an episode "starring" Cerebus. Learned some more about him. Got some good moments with Sawyer. Loved the Evil Dead Rami cam stuff. Still feel the "flash-sideways" are a colossal waste of time but this was definitely the most interesting of them so far. I'm most intrigued by the little boy that Cerebus kept seeing. It suggests there's a third deity in this story, one that appears to stand above and beyond Jacob and Cerebus. That, or its just a vision of unDead Jacob.

You cannot go wrong with having the episode carried by Terry O'Quinn and Josh Holloway.

Loved the Richard and Sawyer scene, which was actually pretty funny.

Nice seeing Katey Segal back.

Wow, Locke actually did become a substitute teacher.

That was a good solid hour. Above Average.

- I didn't believe we'd actually get too many answers despite what unLocke said. Are we still calling him unLocke? The play on words is getting a bit stale.

- Looks like this change to the timeline goes back further than the flight. Locke is with Helen.

- I liked that Ben had a few words to say at Locke's burial. Then there was Frank... "Weirdest damn funeral I've ever seen." I burst out laughing at that. :guffaw: Gotta love Frank the way he just rolls with it all.

- Sawyer's not the candidate.

Just shy of excellent, so above average. Locke/Sawyer episodes rock :techman:

I wonder why Sawyer has changed his 'get off the islad' tune as he was always content on staying. Is he 'playing' NuLocke? Hmmmm....

NuLocke crossing off Locke's name :(
