Looks like Netflix is interested in making a New Star Trek Show

Various people have been "in talks" with CBS for a new Trek show since ENT went off the air.

I'd be surprised if their proposals made it out of the CBS mail room...

^ yes, at 9pm. But it will be riding on the coattails of its 8pm lead-in, Admiral Sulu.

Actually, it will be premiering coinciding with the release date of the seasons 1-7 DS9 boxset on Blu-ray.

I haven't heard any news beyond that Netflix has been talking to people at CBS about a Star Trek series. Everything I've heard seems to indicate that CBS is happy right now milking out the content that it already owns and collecting the licensing fees from Paramount for the new movies. It is nice to know however that there are powerful people in the industry interested in returning Star Trek to the television.

I agree that as it stands right now CBS is more than happy earning money from pre-existing Star Trek content rather than producing a new series. I keep saying we'll see a remastered DS9 before we see a new TV series.

I would love to see a new show for the 50th anniversary but realistically that's not going to happen. It would have to be in development by now to make a 2016 premiere.

To make a September/October 2016 premiere, I imagine development could start as late as late-2015.

Agreed. On last night's "after" show for Sons of Anarchy, Sutter mentioned that the final episode apparently hasn't yet been written/shot entirely, and their final season is going for only 13 episodes. Granted, they don't really have much in the way of heavy post-production requirements that a Trek series would have, but I think they could realistically put something together if they got started next year.

CBS has no interest in putting any new Star Trek series on Netflix. But they are interest in bringing Star Trek back to television.

Unofficially they haven't publicly announce it yet. They are working on four stories. On 3 of them they haven't seen a script they like. The fourth on will be a mini-series base on the Romulan War. Yes the NX-01 will be in it, as well as the case of Enterprise.

It is unknown if they will have the Romulan war place before the signing of the Federation Charter or After.

But CBS won't officially announce it publicly until 2015.

So are you some CBS insider, or are you just reading a bunch of internet rumors and assuming it's all true? Or just making stuff up? Because I'd really like to know your source for all this.

This sounds incredibly unlikely. Why would they be spending millions on a show that went out with incredibly low ratings? Plus, Scott Bakula is attached to NCIS: New Orleans which would make his appearance in a Trek project doubtful.

I'm not a CBS insider. But the administers that runs Star Trek Enterprise Season 5- Netflix Campaign Facebook like page are in talk with CBS themself. What CBS had told them, they had told us.

It going to be a mini-series and it's going be base on the Romulan War, not on the cast of Enterprise and it's not going be center on them, even though they will be in it. NCIS: New Orleans is produce by CBS.

Even though y'all don't believe me at all. But in 2015 and CBS announced it publicly, y'all will believe the person who post the news here on TrekBBS; And won't remember that I had told you about it in the first place, even though that I had told y'all back in 2005, in 2015 after 2 Star Trek Movies. If they did good at the box office? Work on a new Star Trek television series would be started. Even thought they were already looking at scripts for a couple of years.

Er, no, they're not in talks with CBS. And if they say they are, they're lying.
