I've lived in the Toronto GTA area all my life and in Mississauga since I was ten. But recently some things have changed. A new Future Shop store is opening in Brockville, Ontario and I've been offered the position of Merchandiser Lead for that location. It means a little more money and being closer to my parents who are now seniors.
And so in about a month I'll be in new digs and a new community, one smaller and slower paced than here in Toronto and Mississauga.
Part of me is excited, but I admit I also feel a little strange about it all. Although I'm accustomed to living in a city like environment I've always found that while people are friendly enough here they do take a little longer to get to know. And the pace can be such that few people seem to have much unscheduled time to the point that it seems you often have to make an appointment with them just for a lousy cup of coffee. To that end I've often enough found Mississuaga/Toronto a bit lonely at times even though I'm used to it adn I talk with different people easily enough.
Now if they opened a location on 40 Eridani B...
