Which made no damn sense, since it was treated as a pre-existing term for them. That was the second issue of Mike Carlin's brief, underwhelming run on TOS Volume 1, and easily the worst one.
Greg Cox wrote a a Tos Movie era novel where Scotty and Spock had a important story arc in Foul deeds will rise.And No Time like the past with Greg Cox . Scotty has an important story arc in the book and Seven of Nine is in the novel.
I know that this is an old thread but having just finished reading “Ship of the Line” by Diane Carey I can verify that Scott (“Scotty”) does indeed appear in that one, and a relatively good bit. (As to it being a “good” novel featuring Scotty, well…)
