Delta Quadrant made a very nice resin model kit but has gone out of business because of a C&D "request" from Paramount/CBS. The model is still for sale at Federation Models: http://www.federationmodels.com/model_kits/delta/ (see bottom of page).
I'm not sure what resin is made from. But I don't think it's plastic. But resin kits tend to be more solid and heavier. And I'm not sure how difficult it is to paint.
I saw a 3D model thread here. I wonder if there is a 3D print in service near here. I've been looking at M3D 's Micro 3D printers. But I don't know if I would be that interested to spend money on one. Not to mention it may be too small to make me an archer class model.
Resin is a form of plastic, and it's weight depends on how it's molded. If it is too heavy you could buy sheet styrene and just make some parts yourself
