Hi,

In 1987there was a Star Trek con (I think it was a Dreamwerks one) in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. As I remember it, the guest was supposed to be Leonard Nimoy but he was busy directing a movie so they brought in Shatner instead. It was my first ever (but certainly not last!) con. I was 13 (exactly the right age to be in love with Captian Kirk),and during the Q&A (where Shatner redid his "Get a Life" sketch to much laughter) I managed to ask a question. During this, he noticed I had cheesy plastic pointed "Spock" ears on, and called me up on stage, knelt down, put his arm around my waist, and we had a chat. At the end of our talk, he kissed my hand. This was an amazing moment. After the con, I got the con video (which included the Q&A) and someone (don't know how they knew who I was) sent me a very nice close up pic of the two of us on stage. I always meant to try and get it autographed, but never did. Well, in 2005, I lost everything I owned in Hurricane Katrina. (I slogged my way into my place weeks later an managed
to recover ears, which hadn't disintegrated as they were plastic, and soaked them in bleach for a week so I could keep them.) Since then I have been trying to find out info on this con in the hopes that I can find someone else who was there who might have copies of the video or any pics of us on stage. Please repost this on any sites you guys may have so as to get this to as many people as possible. If anyone has any information, please contact me at girlwiththeearson@hotmail.com. (Girl with the ears on, which is what he called me), or just post a reply here. Don't worry, this isn't my main net address. I hope someone out there can help me, I
would have started this search a lot sooner but I have been very ill for a number of years.

Thanks in advance,

Liz

Great thread title. Made me look. What a neat story. I wish you all the best, and hope you're well.

Yeah, same here. Best of luck to you. Let us know if you find anything. :)

Well, I was at a couple of cons in 1987, but not that one, I'm afraid. Good luck, though! :techman:

I was not at that convention, but have you tried contacting the company who ran the convention (assuming they are still in business)? They may be able to put you in contact with those who worked the convention, in turn they may know who you need to contact.

Actually, I was able to track down the guy that ran the company (which no longer exists). He remembers that con, but wasn't at it, but is contacting his friends to see if any of them know anything.

Veru nice story. Please, keep us posted on the developments. I hope you menage to recover such a nice piece of your life.

I assume you tried scouring all the usual search engines plus YouTube? You never know what shows up out there.
