Looking for advice to improve my app (to learn the Ferengi Rules)

Hello to everyone,

Because I'm a fan of DS9 (and Quark), I just have developed a small app (free) on android to help people to learn the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition.
And now I'm looking for feedbacks:
What do you think about it?
Do you think it's cool?
what new features could be interesting?

(I post this in the "fan productions" thread, but don't hesitate to tell me if it is not the right place..)

To test the app, here is the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.FerengiRules

Well Alec Peters founded a film studios based on the rules of acquisition so I know he will enjoy it!

Seriously though, it sounds like fun. Unfortunately I don't think I have a compatible device to try this but I wish you all the best with it. Without seeing the app the only advice I can provide is to make sure you have some kind of clear statement concerning copyright (if you have not done so already). Please note I am not a legal expert, but I suggest something along the lines of:

“Star Trek and all related marks, logos and characters are solely owned by CBS Studios Inc. This fan produced app is not endorsed by, sponsored by, nor affiliated with CBS, Paramount Pictures, or any other Star Trek franchise, and is a non-commercial fan-made app intended for recreational use. No commercial exhibition or distribution is permitted. No alleged independent rights will be asserted against CBS or Paramount Pictures.”

As to the correct place for this thread I am sure a moderator will be able to let you know where to best put this thread and will move it for you if there is an issue with it being here. Perhaps 'General Trek Discussion' or the games section would be the best place to promote your app.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you for your answer.

Too bad you can't test the app; unfortunately, for the moment, I am not able to make the app for other platforms.

Concerning the copyright, in the app it is never written "star trek" or any character name, and there is no photo...
Only a Ferengi logo was used (under a Creative Common license, and I modified it).
Do you think I still need to add such a copyright statement ?

Concerning the correct place for the post, I'll follow your advice: waiting a moderator... ;)

Again, I am not a legal expert. However I think that it might be a good idea. The Ferengi Rules of Acquisition come from scripts which are the intellectual property of CBS. I am sure that this constitutes fair use, but it is never a bad idea to acknowledge the copyright holders.
