Looking for action-oriented DS9 books...

Yes, I'm a DS9 fan, but most books in that literary series are boring, IMO.

'Warpath' was the only one I really was able to get through; 'Fearful Symmetry' was a mixed bag....(I actually thought the Nerys part was a lot quicker than the Ghemor part). 'Trial and Error' was good, until the end...etc..etc....

Are there any DS9 books that 'move'...i.e. action-oriented, decent story, likable characters...etc.....?

The other three, at least, are definitely what you're looking for.

Oh - and also, Station Rage. Unless you hate Diane Carey, which some people do. It's about as action-oriented as they come and the villain is awesome.

Personally, I didn't dislike Station Rage because I dislike Diane Carey's work (though I often do); I disliked it because it didn't feel like DS9 to me. Didn't buy the characterization of the regulars, and thought the villain was a one-dimensional bad guy who could have stepped out of a Flash Gordon serial.

DS9 wasn't really an action-driven show. It could do it, and do it very well, but that's not what it was generally about. IMHO, of course.

^ Shrug. To each his own. I agree that it wasn't in the usual DS9 spirit, but that actually doesn't bother me; I tend to enjoy authors with a different take on the source material. Thorne's Titan was a really different place from anyone else's, and it's among my favorite books in that series, and I also didn't mind Before Dishonor. Station Rage sort of read like DS9 as reimagined as epic myth, and I thought it was interesting.

I like Station rage.I thought the villan in the book was more complex than than some of the ones portrayed in the older ds9 books.I liked the myths surrounding the High Gul and the Cardassians in the book.

'Fallen Heroes' was loads of fun. I remember when I first read it, I thought it was almost scarily violent.

I liked parts of Fallen Heroes but some of the scenes were really violent and bloody for a ds9 novel.
