Looking for a Marc Daniels fan

Duane

Captain

His entry in Wikipedia needs some work. I haven't a clue as to how to go about doing it. I hope someone out there reads this and can give his entry the detail it deserves.

Here is a link to his page on allmovie.com:

For some reason, Daniels is very underrated and unappreciated...his work in helping develop the structure of the production of <i>I Love Lucy<i> alone is historically significant, and vastly underreported. Daniels, using the lessons he learned working those live plays on early TV, basically set up the way sitcoms were rehearsed and shot for 50 years!

His work on Trek is also significant - Justman credits him with saving the show, after the directors of CM and MW both went WAY over schedule, Daniels came in and shot two shows (Man Trap and Naked Time) back to back both within schedule and budget- with NT being maybe THE seminal character show of the whole damn series.

I certainly agree about the "I Love Lucy" work-it laid the blueprint for the modern sitcom in almost every way.

Love his TOS episodes, too.

Hard to say he is underappreciated tho-he gets a lot of recognition for the ILL work. He was even portrayed in one of the tele-bios about Lucille ball.

David Carradine also speaks very highly of Marc's work on "Kung Fu." His comments are included in some of the bonus features on the DVD's. If memory serves, David said that Marc come in and shot four of the last five episodes of the original "Kung Fu" back-to-back. That was unheard of the 1970's and would never happen today.

I'm not sure if David Carradine's memory is correct, as apparently Marc had a heart attack at one point while filming those last episodes and had to sit out a while.
