Looking for a british person...

Though still looking for someone who maybe can do that certain bit of text (would send it to you). And while its not Dickens, its written buy a guy who wrote a sequel to Oliver Twist and he kept the way of how some of the characters talk that Dickens had. I would just like to hear how close I got it read correctly or if I read it wrong.

TerokNor

You can send it to me via PM or post it here if you want, I don't mind helping out since no one else has offered. I don't have a cockney accent since I was raised in North London, but I'll give you what I've got. I wouldn't go so far as to say I can do Dickensian "correctly" though. Plus, my accent my have a hint of the international itself, I'm not sure.

There are lots of examples of British accents on youtube. These are funny...

When James Masters came to the UK the first time he had to be asked to talk in his Spike voice as his native tongue was too hard for us to understand!

Don't know what that American lady is on in the 2nd video but she obviously hasn't a clue when it comes to the subtle differences between English and American English.

Still amusing though

£10 pounds a line and you can have as much as you want. :D :p

All right then, here you go... one line please. :)

It can be quite disconcerting to hear your own voice, played back.

That it can. Everybody I know tells my I have a baritone voice, but I sound somewhat higher to my own ears, and on tape I sound not only screechy, but whiny too.

You have a similar problem?

Well the somewhat technical explanation is that certain recording devies or communications only record/transmit a certain frequency bandwidth of you speach. So the higher and lower Hertz parts are cut out.

See all those years at college studying Electronics and Engineering Communications did pay off.

Also, aren't the acoustics of hearing your own voice different than hearing others' voices? After all, your ears receive the sound not just from the outside, but also as a vibration coming from your throat that is transmitted through the body to the ears.

I'll send you $10 if you send me those fivers... they're no use to you over there. :)

*Has been reading too much of the Artful Dodger*

Google sez: 1 British pound sterling = 1.6416 US dollars

Ok, it's a deal! Just add $20 to cover shipping and 'handling'. ;)
