Looking for a basic CD to MP3 converter

I have to convert a CD to MP3 for a wedding DJ, and rather quickly. I've been looking for a quality program (free of course) for one time use. If anyone has an ace up their sleeve they could suggest, I would be very grateful.

I believe that iTunes is a free download. You do need to tell it to use the MP3 format by going to Preferences, then selecting Advanced, and Importing. Once this is done, iTunes is very easy to use.

I'll put a vote in for WMP for a couple of reasons. One, it comes with Windows meaning youdon't have to go looking for other media players and you only have to do the occasional upgrade and two, it's quite easy to use and convert files to various formats, including MP3.

I know it is (and yes it is gratis). It's a pretty good option for high-end use - my particular copy keeps tabs on a music library of quite sizeable proportions (750+ albums and almost 11000 songs). But for the OP's requirements, it is a tad over-specified compared to the likes of EAC and CDex which is why I didn't recommend it.

I should have mentioned that I was doing it on VMWare and I just have a CD read issue with the migrated XP platform I have. CDEx worked like a charm (intuitive and automated for a first time user). Cheers, gang!

if you have a PC then just WMP.. if you have a mac the Itunes of course.. But then again itunes works to PC too.. But, lets be serious for a min. I think what you really want is a good CD->VOX converter. Or better yet a real nice CD->MIDI converter. You may need to goto DOS for the first one.

I use iTunes for that sort of thing. It imports the songs and also looks up a database on the internet and finds the name of the CD and the tracks on it. The name of each track is then automatically saved as its actual filename.
