Get back on your tractors, London may be on this rock, but we're a world city and, are constantly having to support others, outside the M25.

At any rate, I understand your feelings. We here in Northern Virginia feel that "North Virginia" should be a new state. But the difference here is that trade isn't restricted between states in the same way that it can be between countries. I feel that you could find yourself in a nasty position if you're dependent on other countries for food production.

Since we pay for their farms and the GDP here is the strongest in the country... I'd like to see that 'other country' try it.

The UK could probably do with a bit more federalism. There are other regions that also feel ignored and different, e.g. Cornwall. My city happens to be its own state so that might be an option for London, too.
