Live-Action-Remake of animation movies you'd like to see?

I know and it's such a stupid idea. I also want to hit everyone who calls it a 'live action remake' when really it's just a CGI remake.

Agreed (in a non-violent way). Remaking The Lion King as a new movie is horrendously pointless (apart from the cash motive) at best.

Even better would be a live-action WALL-E with android robots (EVE would be a gynoid, of course)

Aaaaaand, nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope, and for many of the same reasons as The Lion King, except much more so.

Anyhow, I know this is a deep cut, but now that CG has come of age, someone should really remake those two Lord of the Rings cartoon movies from the 70s (but probably best to leave that The Hobbit story alone).

Said movie's a hell of a lot more believable than Rataspewie, especially considering B&TB was already a live action movie back in the 1940's.

We were talking about believable plots. A chef that is a rat makes just as much sense as Beauty and the Beast, if not more so.

The suggestion of "The Last Unicorn" amuses me. Back in 2004 Disney and Walden Media set up a website (you'll never find it, and they'll never admit they did it) to throw off suspicion that "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" was in production. The website had a massive amount of production and pre-production imagery for TLTW&TW all over it, and it was all described as material in place for a live-action "The Last Unicorn" feature film.

The Jetsons. I know there was talk of doing this a number of years ago. I believe they were talking about Chevy Chase playing George, but obviously it never happened. Seeing that type of future in live action would be awesome.

That's what I was getting at. For WALL-E, the description of Leon Kowalski from Blade Runner sounds apt; 'He can lift 180 kg/400 lb all day and all night.'

This comic book from DC Comics could serve as a great template for said live action adaptation.

The Iron Giant could be a great live action film.

It might indeed, but it's a spectacular film, period, and the generally outstanding animation is the scrumptious cherry on top of the whole experience. I've yet to see the Signature Edition; is it any good?

The Hunchback of Notre Dame would make a fantastic live-action movie like Les Mis if they followed the darker more adult tone of the recent play. You can watch it in full here.

Lolita (an animated version could actually show the sex between Lolita and Humbert this time, in particular a CGI animated version)

It isn't like the book ever goes into detail on that front, any specific sex they have is actually quite incidental. I'm a pretty tough one to throw off, but this actually skeeves me more than a little to read.

Believe me when I say that I'm not the only one who thinks there should be another remake; a blogger who talked about the movie believes that there should be another one too (said blogger felt that both versions weren't up to the spirit of the novel as they say it.)

I can appreciate wanting to see a decent adaptation of the novel. I just don't see the need for graphic sex to be depicted in such a remake.

That darker, more adult tone probably hues more closely to the original Victor Hugo novel. Disney lightened it up considerably to be able to make a film out of it. In Hugo's novel, several prominent characters meet their untimely demise, while in Disney's film, only Claude Frollo dies.
