Little touches you liked about the movie...

That the Bones nickname is a private joke between Kirk and McCoy instead of being derived from Sawbones.

That was perfect

fencing sulu was a nice touch. naked time is one of my favourite episodes.

I liked that too.

-But I liked the transporter effect...
-The Warp Effect was Awesome (if starwars like)
-I loved the Uniforms and hope they never change them.
-I liked the Kelvin so visceral and unpretty yet rough and strong.
-I loved the line."Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence."

Finallly I loved the Spock Uhura romance...

The performances of the entire main cast, so many little nuances from each of them. Even the Kelvin crew came across well in the short time we got to see them.

The classic sound effects cropping up in the background here and there, picking out more as you rewatch it.

The Kobayashi Maru injokes, blended with the new version so well.

The warp effect, a new sense of realism and a truely great insinuation of the raw speed of these ships.

A whole variety of shuttles, all with classic touches that make them look like close cousins to the Type F on the show.

And probably more I can't remember right now.

I liked the idea of an Orion at Starfleet but I thought she was about the least attractive green Orion woman we've seen. Something just didn't seem right, she came across like a human painted green.

Probably because of her hair. Red hair doesn't look good with green skin. She should have had black hair, like most Orion women do.

She looked like a Christmas ornament.

The hair was a big part of it but the character just didn't come across as Orion to me. No biggie. It's not like she was a large part of the story anyway.

Loved the uniforms. Put an end to the idea that the TOS uniforms wouldn't work on the big screen.

It was good seeing some new and different ship designs although I'd quibble with a couple of them. Nice to see something that we haven't seen before and yet fit fairly seamlessly into what has gone before.

McCoy was spot on.

Uhura had more to do although most of it was simply being Spock's girlfriend. Hopefully the minor characters will all get a bit more fleshed out in the sequel.

Sulu was good for what we got of him.

Chekov and Scotty were annoying. The comedy bits just didn't seem natural to me.

It was nice seeing the Academy in greater depth than we've seen before.

Nothing about her character seemed Orion and she could have been human with no alterations to the script, although as Therin pointed out in another thread, you can say the same about Marta in TOS. The hair was pretty unattractive and she was little more than a nudge, nudge, wink, wink sex joke. But beyond that, the cadet scenes show several Orions in this one year's intake of cadets. Did anybody clock the number of blue-skinned or porky cadets? It just seems that applying green face paint is easy so suddenly we get Orions in Starfleet instead of more 'traditional' Federation races.

The Orions can make fun villains but as pheromone fuelled temptresses go, I think Deltans are far more interesting as a species.

I think I'd prefer to see a modern take on some old school species instead of seeing more random aliens popping up in the sequel. A Saurian with facial expressions! A Zaranite with some lines! Defintely some Andorians, please, wibbly antennae or not.

I read an interview somewhere where Bob Orci speculated about Pike being involved in an "underground railroad" getting young Orions into Federation space. I thought it was a great idea.

It's such a shame there are no STXI novels to tell this story properly.

I loved Scotty's explanation for how his warp drive works.

Also, I liked all the lens flares, haha, I don't care what anyone says!

My favorite little touch was the TOS sounds on the Enterprise bridge. Don't know why, but it was so cool hearing those old sounds being used in the movie.
