There are times when things occurs to me after viewing a TNG episode. I had the opporunity to watch some of them in the past few days while visiting my folks.

Yesterday, I watched Power Play. Something occured to me. Why did the possessed Data, O'Brien and Data abandon the bridge. Data was able to lock out the bridge and fly the starship a long way from a previous location in Brothers. Why not in this episode? They could have dumped Riker, Picard and the extras in the turbolift. They could have done it easily. Yes, then there would be no episode and end of the show.... blah blah :)

I'm not being nitpicky. Just a thought. Anything else you had thought about while watching TNG?

^ Well, the Data in "Brothers" was the "real" data and a heck of a lot more stable than the entity he was possessed by in "Power Play." The entity seemed to lack patience and have quite a temper, and when his first attempt to persuade Riker to change orbit failed, he started to go off the deep end. Riker was able to transfer command functions to engineering before the entity was able to do anything about it.

Also, I noticed that after "Brothers," it was no longer sufficient for an officer to use their voice identification with the computer. They also had to give some sort of security code. For example, in "Power Play," when Riker restores command functions to the bridge, he says "Computer, restore all command functions. Authorization Riker Omega Three."

Perhaps that sort of additional security measure was added after the incident in "Brothers"? Where voice prints were previously considered secure enough, perhaps Starfleet realized that they needed something in addition to that when you have an android running around who can simulate anyone's voice on the ship.

Yes, codes were needed by Picard in order to get control back from Moriarty in "Ship in a Bottle" too.

Another reason for leaving the bridge is that security was on the way. Controls locked out, the bridge crew stunned, so they might not be up for awhile (Even though they were really quickly) They hadn't been hit by a phaser stun yet, so they might not have known that they were immune to them at that point. Also the Bridge is not a very defensible position, 2 turbolifts, 1 emergency turbolift from the battle bridge, the entrance from the observation lounge, the restrooms and Picards Ready Room. Too many entrances. Ten Forward only had 2 and was more defensible.

Here's a little thing thats bothering me .....last night while cooking dinner i rewatched Timescape. At the end, the Romulan ship disappears. Where did it go? The crew was all transported over to the Enterprise, but why did the ship just "disappear"? Where the hell did it go???

Apparently, the aliens took it with them, to protect their nest in the engine core.

Their ability to do so wasn't established, tho. And it doesn't sound as if any of the real Romulans ever had the chance to properly witness the alien activities; Picard would have a hell of a time trying to explain to them or to their superiors what had really happened to their ship...

^Unless similiar situtations happened to other Romulan warbirds. Starfleet might not know about it and the Tal Shiar would have covered it up.
