"Little Green Men" -- homeboy?

I love this episode. Watch it over and over. However, there is one word that has always bugged me... before Quark & company got the universal translators to work, and Quark was talking to one of the generals of the twentieth century, out of all the garbled words, comes out "homeboy". I keep laughing everytime I hear Quark say this word because it's totally unexpected for a Ferengi to say this, I think. Is there a reason why they decided to make this word come out or was it just Armin Shimmerman's way of bringing humour into the script?

I have never noticed that, and I have watched it several times. It looks as if I will have to watch it again to see that, sounds funny...

I've always heard that too. But I have no idea if it was on purpose or just a word that just happened to sound like "homeboy". It is pretty ammusing either way.

I know neepgrey or something to that effect is Ferengi for thank you, but I don't remember "Homeboy".

Where did you find that translation from? Was it actual Ferengi language? I thought it was just a bunch of non-sense because the translators weren't working.

I think the writers' had said they just wanted the language to sound funny.

The translations were in the script so that the actors would know how to deliver their lines.
