I dont like cats so it is very hard for me to have sympathy for them.

Yeah the guy was wrong for what he did since these things were people's pets, but they are just animals, no reason to wish this guy dead.

So, its ok to inflict horrific and extended pain and suffering on something for no reason other than to satisfy ones own sick desires if its "just an animal"?

It's the sadism evident in the act that horrifies me and must be punished. However, that should be done by long-term imprisonment in a mental hospital. Sorry, but I don't consider the mere act of killing an animal as a capital offense. It's the fact that this kid is on the path to becoming a serial killer that needs the most attention.

Oh, I agree. Many years in a mental institution and then heavily supervised release at best.

I can't believe how many people are wishing death and/or rape in prison for this kid.

I hate what he did and I consider it to be sick and evil. But in my mind the kid has HUGE mental problems and needs help. He deserves punishment and treatment. He does not deserve life in prison, torture, rape, etc...

Killing and torturing an anaimal is a horrific thing, but putting it on the same level as doing it to a human like a few of you are? I just completely disagree with that. I say this as a cat lover and an animal lover in general.

Yeah, but the terms will be served simultaneously no doubt, he's being charged for a bunch of things that are a few years each, so he'll probably only be there 2 or 3 years tops, plus good behaviour, plus appeal, plus few people care about animal cruelty so... I'd say 6 months, if that.

That's funny, I consider usually manslaughter to be less horrific and cruel than animal abuse. All humans are assholes by default until they can prove otherwise and usually do something to deserve pain, animals are incapable of being offensive and are rarely capable of defending themselves against abuse.

That's actually about how I see it. I have, basically, three buttons that send me into full rage mode: kids, old people, and animals being hurt.

Absolutely, which is why I put that disclaimer in my earlier Post. He definitely should be incarcerated, though, until such time it can be proven that his mental illness has been cured.

I agree. What he did was horrible but this is a person that needs help and hopefully we'll be able to understand why he did it so we can stop it from happening in the future.
