Little cat killing bastard

Several years ago my nephew (actually my ex-husband's nephew) and a friend, both aged 17, set a kitten on fire and only received a good behaviour bond. The judge said that they showed remorse and that their actions were out of character for both youths. I disagree. My nephew was always a nasty little shit and I was not that surprised to hear that he had done this.
I feel so sorry for the people who owned the little kitten. How angry they must have felt to know that their beloved pet had been burnt to death.

If he's really guilty, I hope he gets all 158 years; he needs to be kept away from other living things.
I read that earlier, found it quite horrifying. I'm sure I'd take a bat to someone who did that to my cat. There were some stupid kids on bikes and dirt bikes running around scaring animals. That stopped pretty fast, thankfully, as they were intentionally terrifying my cat.
Is there something in the air these days with people abusing animals? I guess it isn't new but it disgusts me- all of it. And since, as mentioned, people who abuse people usually start by abusing animals, you'd think it'd be a bigger deal. It isn't in Canada... some awful stories.

I dont like cats so it is very hard for me to have sympathy for them.
Yeah the guy was wrong for what he did since these things were people's pets, but they are just animals, no reason to wish this guy dead.

They're not "just" animals though. They are domesticated, and rely on human beings to be good stewards. They are also innocent of any wrongdoing. This boy needs to reap what he sows, and to reap it quickly.

It's funny, I can watch people get hurt and I couldn't care less, but when it's an animal, I go into ragemode (at least, if they're doing it for fun, I've got no problem with people killing animals that they're going to eat).
This kid is clearly incapable of basic empathy and respect for life. This is sociopathic behaviour, and it's dangerous. People like that shouldn't be allowed to interact with mainstream society. I think it's a bit extreme to cry for blood, but I think he deserves a lengthy imprisonment. Perhaps keep him locked up until he's old and all of his friends and family have forgotten about him or died off, that's a far worse punishment than locking him up for life.

So, its ok to inflict horrific and extended pain and suffering on something for no reason other than to satisfy ones own sick desires if its "just an animal"?
Looking at the kids picture, I just want to wipe that smug look of his face. But his eyes freak me the fuck out.

I knew someone in high school whose idea of a good time on weekends (besides watching porn with his friends) was to drive around looking for cats to run over. I don't think he went after dogs.

I don't think he should be murdered in cold blood, but you just don't mutilate living things. Period.
Even if you don't like a certain type of animal, it is impossible to justify cruelty, inflicting pain and suffering on a living creature.
And the idea he could get no punishment... or something light and easy... and go on torturing animals, work his way up to people? Troubling... to say the least.

I read in one of John Douglas' books that the majority of serial killers start with pet mutilation.

I just can't stand animal torturers. There's just something in me that switches over to protect the innocent in a big way, and I despise animal torturers. One of my former friends once told me he killed a cat with a firecracker. I asked him if he regretted it. He said no he still thought it was hilarious, and I told him in no uncertain terms to get the fuck out of my house right then and there. I don't speak to him, and it's been a decade.
