Listen to the music playing in your head....

I've had the Star Trek soundtrack in my car this past week so i usually have some of those themes running through my head but today, unfortunately, for some reason i have "I think i'm turning Japanese" on an endless loop. :(

At least it's helping drown out the voices.....

Richard Rodgers' “Carousel Waltz” has been incessantly running through my head since yesterday morning.

Well, at least it's pretty.

For about a month straight one of the neighbors form the next block was blaring fucking "My Heart Will Go On" on a loop. And when I say blaring I mean, if you've never lived in a Dominican neighborhood in Brooklyn you can't comprehend how loud music can get, and when I say "on a loop" I mean it literally: the same damn song 5, 6, 7 times in a row, every day FOR A MONTH! So yeah, that was in my head for a while.

Lately, though, and more pleasantly (if sadder), I've had the beautiful song, "If I Give Your Name," stuck in my head. I saw a friend I hadn't seen in years last week, who lost her daughter on September 11th, and that song came into my head. It had been years since I'd heard it, and I could only remember bits, "Mi esposa, my wife, worked on the 80th floor, the company had hired illegals before/ she got the job by word of mouth/ that's the way in the north when you're from the south/ They say 3,000, well the counting's not done/ Mi esposa esta muerta, three thousand and one....
I couldn't even remember the name of the song, so had to do some major searching before I could listen to it and get it out of my head.

I have been having this song in my head last day or so...

Ukulele and all.

The closing theme to Slings and Arrows, "Call the Understudy."

It's been in my head for DAYS.

Call the understudy
I can't go on tonight
I'm drinking with my buddy
I'm getting good and tight
Before they raise the curtain, I'll be higher than a kite
So call the understudy
I can't go on tonight

Tell the cast and crew to break a leg (break a leg!)
Roll me out another bloody keg (bloody keg!)
I need to ease the pain that life can bring
And liquor is what will hit the spot
The play is not the thing

So call the understudy
I think it's only right
My diction will be muddy
I'll never find me light
Before the intermission I'll be pissin' on a sprite
So call the understudy
I can't go on (he can't go on!)
I won't go on (he shan't go on!)
I can't go on tonight (damn right!)

Thought I'd give this one a bump. For the last several hours, “Incense and Peppermints” by the Strawberry Alarm Clock has been running through my head. Have any earworms insinuated themselves into your consciousness recently?
