Lindelof talks title, and time gap

Of course, the title Star Trek is more limiting than some, because it's kind of abstract. You can't do something like Star Trek and the Temple of Doom or The Star Trek Rises. Numbers are unnecessary, but either ST: Subtitle or a title with no ST at all seem to be the only options.

This was really my point, which you've articulated better than I did! Star Trek doesn't readily lend itself to titles, other than numbers (which, as you say, have gone out of vogue lately) or a sub-title following a colon.

Though, to add to the suggestions, we could borrow from First Contact and call it Some Kind of Star Trek.

That's how they do it in Old Europe.

Or... think about the Dark Knight movies are able to just use the Batman emblem in the posters to establish the series they belong to. Maybe the Starfleet arrowhead could be used the same way, as a symbol that says Star Trek without needing the actual words.

TREK

Worked for all those Edward Gross unaithorized Star Trek reference books....

Star Trek's Back
More Star Trek
Star Trek Again
Star Trek Returns
The Star Trek Sequel
Trek through the Stars
Star Trek Forever
Star Trek and Robin
Star Trek Continues
The Khan Movie (but only if Khan is not in it, just to fuck with people)

I dunno, I've always thought "trek" was kind of a weird and ugly word (and I'm saying this as someone who's been a Trek fan for nearly four decades now). Personally I wish the original show had been called Galaxy Quest and the later parody movie had been called Star Trek, because Galaxy Quest is a much more elegant title.

And although Berman's TNG movies used colons, I think he was only delivering semicolon work at best...

There's always the possibility of a character's name being in the title to establish the film's franchise.

Spock's pretty recognizably Star Trek.

"Kirk and Spock"

"Spock's Revenge"

"Spock"
