Linda Hamilton Voiceover in Terminator: Salvation Confirmed

His face will be superimposed over the body double.

Why would they do that when the guy who's playing the T-800 is such a close physical match for Arnie as it is?
Because they want a perfect match and Arnie isn't exactly in Terminator Shape anymore.

I've never understood the need for a match. Sure, Arnold is iconic, but I think he's just as replaceable as the other characters. Otherwise they should superimpose Edward Furlong's (or Michael Edwards' or Nick Stahl's) face on John Connor. Or they should superimpose a younger Michael Biehn onto Reese. Or Claire Danes onto Kate. Just recast and be done with it.

Well that's the great thing about Terminator. It pretty much doesn't matter what happens in T3, or Salvation or the tv show because the timeline is so screwed up you can just roll with it.
It wasn't screwed up until T3; frankly, having Cyberdyne's facility that was destroyed in T2 being the only place they kept their research is kinda unbelievable.

Maybe it is unbelievable, but certainly the future wouldn't play out exactly as Uncle Bob described it, and it's pretty clear that Cameron intended things to change.

It does, denial is a funny thing.

Salvation owes itself to T3 happening.

The writers have said T3 didn't happen in this timeline. Only a few events (JD happening, the character of Kate Connor) are being carried over.
Right. The broad details seem to have happened, but might not have gone down exactly as they did in T3. Which is fine by me.

The most important detail though did happen: Judgement Day.
Kate will be there. Sarah and her cancer probably as well(hell even the show used that) and maybe a nugget or two else.
The writers, as others have done, can write off any discrpancies with the ole "time travel changes things nugget". The fact remains T3 happened. Regardless if Salvation recalls those events exactly, it happened and to that the writers do agree. Otherwise we wouldn't have this movie in the setting its going to take place.

Last laugh goes to those who don't hate T:3.

I think it goes with people thinking of Arnold when they think of Terminator and to many that's his role. Back when T3 was being proposed it was said by Jonathan Mostow if Arnold didn't sign on they weren't even bothering making the movie.

Exactly. And honestly, I think Kickinger looks more like Arnie in The Terminator than Arnie does now, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Sterling news.

One of my favourite parts of T2 is the opening future sequence with the Sarah Connor narration.
It's funny how the Terminator franchise has been with us now for 25 years, and essentially the whole thing revolves around John Connor. And yet until this movie we've only really seen him as a kid (T2), a young adult (T3) and as a teenager (TSCC)
I always loved the glimpse of the adult John Connor in T2 looking super badass, and now we get a full movie about him. And I couldn't think of anyone better to fill that "super badass" role than Christian Bale :)

It's a movie dealing with time travel, EVERY movie rewrites itself to fit into the story they want to tell.

I can't even remember what Hamilton sounds like. Sadly I think it'll feel weird not hearing Lena Headey... but that's kind of sacrilege I suppose.

Good to hear Hamilton is back. I am sure she needs the work, lol.

I don't know about that...

She married James Cameron in July of 1997. Titanic came out that December. They divorced in 1999.

Considering when they got married, they where both pretty much financially equal, I doubt they had a pre-nup.

Alimony, settlement, whatever. She likely took home a truck load of Titanic cash.

EDIT: Indeed, I was right...
She divorced second husband James Cameron after discovering he was having an affair with actress Suzy Amis during the making of the movie Titanic (1997). Her divorce from him was the second-most expensive divorce next to that of Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving. Hamilton stood to take half of Cameron's earnings - close to $50 million.

I'm really liking what I am seeing and hearing about this movie. I hope it's not a disappointment...

^^ You and me both. I am honestly getting way to hyped up for this movie. Normally that sets me up for disappointment.

I had no hopes for T3 which is probably why I thought it was ok. For some reason I have way higher hopes for Salvation. Maybe because of the hype. Somehow I still expect to be let down in some way regarding the story or nerdy details, though.

^ I agree again. There are only two things that if they were to happen would really ruin the film for me and (so far) they're both rumors. I know that they've said one was debunked, but again I don't really trust them.

John Connor is killed and Marcus Wright becomes John Connor.

That Skynet isn't a computer program and is really a group of humans (similar to the Umbrella Corporation in the Resident Evil films) that want revenge for some wrong.
