Well, the McMinnville Air & Space Museum turned down the offer of the shuttle as they currently don't have any type of display that links sci-fi to real technology. They were very polite and quick in responses which was appreciated though.
I had completely forgotten about this thread! I was following it in the beginning, but I never saw the finished pictures until today. It turned out really good, and the use of everyday objects (such as ice cube trays) was really clever.
Well after a 7 month lifespan, surviving 5 wind storms, 3 rain storms, an estimated 800 pounds of water on the roof and even snow, it's time to say good-bye.
3 months to build, 9.5 hours to take apart.
But it sure was fun while it lasted! Hope you guys had fun watching too.
It has been taken apart and is pretty much stashed behind their storage shed in flat segments. I tried to save as many materials as I could for this year's Halloween project. I'm 95% sure Galileo III will not be put back together :-/
So, I'm working on a video to post that shows the build of the shuttlecraft and a bit of Halloween night. I though it would be cool to have a CG version of my shuttle flying around space and whatnot to use as short transition clips between chapters and probably during opening credits. Does anyone know how to do this? I have no idea of where to even start.
Thats sad. Maybe some local plyground could take it off your hands. Having that atop, say, a storm cellar in a field so as to make it visible might be interesting.
Well the shuttle will not be re-assembled. The way I took it apart and the way the floor was constructed made it more difficult then I thought to try and save it for later use.
I did save all the materials though, as they will be used for this year's project which most likely is going to be a life-sized Optimus Prime.
But having some CG sequences of my shuttle is what Im really trying to figure out at the moment as I think that would be a very nice touch for my video.
