If they follow the template of the UK version, Sam will encounter his parents, and even himself, and find that they aren't as his childhood 'memory fragments' has him remembering them.

Quite:

In this version, Vic Tyler - Sam's father - will be played by Dean Winters from Oz et al.

I voted 'Average' because it was. There's nothing distinguishing about the show at this point. I'm a fan of the original so the story lines are old news. They're not doing it worse than the original but they're no better either. If even one of the characters was interesting it would have a chance to hold on to me as a viewer, but none of them are catching my imagination.

I'm not sure I'll bother to catch the next episode.

This show is fantastic; however, there's one critical mistake in the scenes on the streets with traffic -- in 1973, there'd be at least one or two Volkswagen Beetles or even a Bus passing by. Don't believe me? Watch an era TV show or movie and count the VW's ;)

Well, that could just mean that Sam never had a trip in a buss or VW when he was a kid. Assuming, of course, that this is all his hallucination.
Or maybe he's back in time in a parallel universe where VW got shut down after WW2?;)

I like this show okay. Not the best show I've ever seen, but I give it an 'above average'.

I've never seen the UK version so I had no expectations and have nothing to compare it to. But I'm planning to keep watching for a few more episodes and see how it pans out.

That's the cheat with this show - both this one and the UK version. Any anachronisms can be explained as inconsistencies in Sam's head. ;)

It will most likely go the route of the American Office, where it will closely resemble the UK version to start off, then take on a life of it's own after that.
