Re: Life On Mars: "The Man Who Sold the World" 11/20, Grading & Discus

Finally got a chance to watch this off my DVR tonight.

Up until now I gave most (if not all?) of the episode an 'above average'...but this one was great! Gave it an 'excellent'.

They really moved the plot along in this one, I thought. They dealt heavily with his family (particularly his dad, obviously) and also with that 'woman in the red dress' thing, which leads me to believe that Annie is a big part of why he is in 1973. And finally, that cliffhanger ending...wow! Wonder who that voice is and what's in the basement.

January 28 is too far away.

I like the way he gets clues in 1973 - that whole bottom right corner thing was an odd little twist. And I still gotta give 'em serious props for the period stuff - they don't miss a beat with all the early 70's memorabilia. If this show makes it to DVD release though, I have to worry about music rights becoming an issue. Tons of cool 70's music that was very popular at the time...but it's bound to be expensive to include in a DVD set.

I believe they already had some rights issues with the UK versions DVD release so hopefully they'd have thought to negotiate the rights before hand this time.

It seems silly not to do that right upfront, when DVD/online seems like an obvious secondary market.
