The show is finally starting to come together. Keitel is bringing some interesting subtlety to Hunt that is very nice, while Imperioli gets to be the obnoxious badass. Some good moments, and some good lines tonight. Not excellent yet, but it'll get there.

I like this show. And I loved the original. They're not the same. Which is good.

Agreed - so far it's a mashup of the BBC eps, but I like where they're taking it, and Imperioli is a read standout. I give it two, maybe three more eps before it really hits the 100% mark, but it's definitely going in that direction!

Rose Tyler!

That had to be an in-joke.

http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Rose_Tyler
Sam Tyler, the lead character in the BBC's other time-travel drama, Life on Mars, was named after Rose. Reportedly, the lead character's surname was suggested by the young daughter of Life of Mars co-creator, Matthew Graham, after her father had asked her to choose the character's surname. She had ultimately decided upon "Tyler" because of Rose, a fact only later discovered by her father, who eventually went on to write the Doctor Who episode "Fear Her". Sam Tyler is played by John Simm who is also the sixth on screen incarnation of The Master. In the US production of Life on Mars, Sam Tyler's mother is named Rose.

Odette Yustman.

How come she didn't get any scenes with Jonathan Murphy? It would've been an October Road reunion.

So now that Sam knows where his family is, will they come into play more often? Besides, of course, Dean Winters, who's obviously going to be back.

What was UK Sam's mother's name?

I thought this episode was pretty cool. Even if some things, like what Adrian was going to do after showing up at Sam's apartment, and Gene's eventual awakening, were blindingly obvious. (Wonder if Sam's warning to Jim Croce will stick...)

And nice to hear my favorite Hollies song! :techman:

I wonder if they'd ever pull a Quantum Leap on this show, where Sam's (Hey! Sam!) history is different than ours and he does something to change it to be like ours... i.e. in Quantum Leap, Jackie Kennedy was also killed along with JFK.

Somehow I doubt they would do that. Although it would be pretty funny if Scott Bakula did a cameo and Tyler did a double-take, like "Hey, it's Sam Beckett!"

Or if Tyler goes into a bar and Bruce McGill is tending. ;)

I just thought of something, though: In 2008, Sam worked at the same precinct he's at now. Does he remember any of the people he is now meeting in 1973? Most of them would probably be gone by Sam's time but I wonder if Sam remembers any of the old-timers (i.e. those who worked with him in 2008) telling tales of the 'real' Gene, Ray, Chris, etc.

I am enjoying the show, but I can honestly say I am not understanding it. What is the little rover? What causes his flashes? Who still wears a Nirvana shirt in 2008? :D

that's what it looks like... but what does it have to do with our good detective?

Odette Yustman.
Indeed! I was pleasantly surprised to see her, as I missed her name in the opening guest credits.

And I'll admit I missed the October Road connection with Murphy, though since the first episode I knew I'd seen him somewhere before! :D

Obviously the Mars Rover. Retrofitted to be a Sam Rover. Box of toys from last episode.

Rose in England was called Ruth.

Two 50 minute English episodes were streamlined (gutted) spliced together into a 40 minute format and still there was room for original material? Truly this is the advert generation... However this does say that the yanks have a plan, but they need to burn through the original English material (16 episodes.) as fast as possible before they can truly jump in the deep end.

The Flashes are so cool on a second viewing when you know what is to come.
