Lie to Me
's third season was originally set to premiere next month but was moved up to today! following the cancellation of Lone Star. I didn't watch season one as it originally aired due to having too many shows to watch at the time, but I jumped onboard for season two when it was announced that Shawn Ryan (creator of The Shield, co-creator of The Unit, co-creator of FX's Terriers) was being brought in as showrunner. Once that announcement was made, I watched season one and was decidedly unimpressed but thought that season two was much better. As such, I'm very much looking forward to this season.

TV Guide synopsis said:
Tim tries to stop a man bent on revenge from robbing a bank and in the process holds a guilty man accountable for his actions.

TV Guide Preview: Will Lightman go too far without the FBI?

Tim Roth on Twitter.

Wow it only went off air a coulple weeks ago.
I enjoyed season 2 and hope more of the same.

I thought tonight was a very good start to the season. I always enjoy seeing Cal going off and handling a case all on his own since it allows Roth such unrestricted time to just do whatever he wants. Definitely curious to see how things play out with the FBI no longer being in the picture, though I hope this cop doesn't end up essentially replacing Reynolds since that would just be boring (not to mention convenient). Also hoping we get to see an actual new dynamic between Loker and Torres with his VP promotion, though I have to wonder if it's simply a promotion in name only since Lightman doesn't strike me as being willing to give Loker any genuine responsibility.

Not entirely sure why I'm reading the thread considering I'm behind and haven't seen about 7 episodes from the last half-season, but I've seen people get promoted to higher positions just to get them out of the way of those who actually get things done. I can't imagine what Loker could have done either way, positive or negative, to get promoted though--he's been mostly background noise in the episodes I've seen.

I enjoyed this episode. Lightman is still his usual a**hole self but he is right and it will be interesting to see how this new dynamic works with the cop. I wonder if Lightman did sever his ties after Agent F***up (Reynolds' boss) pissed him off too much. Besides, the local PD will probably have more use for his abilities on a regular basis than the Feds did so he would get more money. That said, I'd like all these issues with money to be over, and for them to just get on with uncovering lies.

New dynamics and new people would make this a better series. Get rid of Loker and move Torres into his role, then bring on another intern. Are we actually going to see these two new people at all?

A good point, and honestly I'm confused by the promotion too even though I've seen the episode in which he was promoted. It doesn't make sense considering he had previously been demoted to an unpaid intern. I think it's just Lightman's way of continuing to screw with him.

Shoshannah Stern at the very least is recurring.

My DVR apparently got confused about the Lone Star/Lie to Me swap and did not record this. I am not happy. :(
Won't help with DVR viewship numbers, of course, but you could always watch it on Hulu (direct link to episode).
