Let's Talk Pie

Coconut cream and pecan are my favorite kinds of pies. I also really like Boston Cream Pie, but that's really more of a cake.

I can't stand pumpkin pie. It seems so ... blah. I make it every year at Thanksgiving for my family and they love it, but the whole thing seems a bit icky to me.

I like pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie, most pies with chocolate and such...

But the best is blackberry pie.

I've never been a fan either. Something about pumpkin just doesn't appeal to me, especially in a pie.

Apple & Blueberry pies are nice to eat, and as I'm Australian, I do eat Meat Pies.

Meat Pies? Are those like a combination of Burger/Pie? That seems like an interesting, if a bit odd, mix.

Basically, yeah. Generally, it's some sort of ground meat (I've usually had beef or pork) with various other fillings in a pie shell. It's quite good, generally very filling. Rather like a quiche, actually, only meatier. ;) Generally we call 'em shepherd's pies, here, though.

As for my favourite pies, would have to be apple, raspberry, strawberry, and butterscotch cream.

My favourite pie is apricot Limburgse flaai, in which I'd indulge whenever we visited my parents' home town in the Netherlands. Flaai, and Dutch chocolate, almost made up for two weeks of summer holidays being dragged to our many insane relatives during my youth.

Pecawn Pah that's slightly warmed with either vanilla ice cream on top or whipped topping. Pumpkin pie is OK, but Sweet Poteyter Pah rawks.

I approve of this because you didn't say "Pee-can Peye".

That being said, Pumpkin pie has a much smoother and better texture than sweet potato.

So many pies, so little time..............

I love all pie. It's actually easier to answer, 'what pies do I NOT like?' And that would be rhubarb and/or strawberry-rhubarb pie.

I prefer:

blueberry pie
chocolate-pudding pie
apple
Dutch-apple
Cherry
Lemon-meringue
Key Lime
Banana-cream
pumpkin

Cobbler: Rhubarb
Pie: Pumpkin

Other than those, I'm not actually a huge fan of either pie or cobbler, actually. I'm more of a cake person myself.

Now you guys have settled it!

I have got to make Hubby an apple pie as soon as I get some good apples. I got one of the apple-peeling things (you turn the handles, the apple spins and gets peeled, cored, and sliced) and that makes things easy. Only takes about an hour or so, including fridge time for the crust.

A few yarens...er...years ago, I had big slice of banana cream pie from a local restaurant...and it was the best pie ever. It can never be topped. They don't even serve it at that place regularly, IIRC.

That was it. Pie Nirvana. Everything since is a letdown.

I"m not a fan of those quasi-inedible berry pies. They taste good...until you realize they contain unchewable seeds.

Pecan pie hands down my favorite. Good for any occasion, especially the holidays. Pecan pie for the win!

Shepherd's Pie has a potato topping, an Australian / British meat pie has pastry.

I love fruit pies, cobblers and crumbles but I don't like them with cream or ice cream. Either hot with custard or cold on their own for me please.

Absolute favourite? Blackberry and apple crumble and custard. Just like my mum used to make :adore:
