Let's make a new DVD set together: THE VERY WORST OF TREK

Newspaper Taxi

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
It's in all capitols because it's baaaaaaaaaad.

So here's the deal. This special DVD set will contain 15 episodes -- and yes, an episode that's a two-parter will be counted as two episodes. Please list up to ten episodes that you think are deserving of inclusion in this very special boxset. I'll tally up votes in approximately a week's time and the top 15 will get in. Approximately, I say. While you're at it, feel free to discuss the episodes too.

And anyone who wants to whip up a cover are more than welcome.

Bound --
Harbinger -- One of the most important plotpoints of the season is a C-plot, and the A and B plots are just sex and violence.
Take me out to the holosuite -- Sisko seemed hateful of the vulcan and the comedy was forced.
Profit and Lace -- I felt embarrased watching this. I've only seen it once.
Q2 -- A poor use of Q
Q-Less -- Q didn't have much of a purpose. Although I liked "Picard Never hit me/ I'm not picard." Was that worth a whole episode?
Fury -- Ruined Kes

Trek has many entertaining stinkers, so I've always found the most boring episodes to be the worst ones.

The Omega Glory - Bogged down in boredom, rah-rah patriotism finale.
Spock's Brain - Brain and brain, what is brain?
Code of Honor - Boredom, racism, cringeworthiness!
Angel One - Boring as hell.
Shades of Gray - No comment.
Prodigal Daughter - The most boring and pointless DS9 episode.
Threshold - Silly.
The Fight - They went for surreal, but boy what a mess this one was!
Ashes to Ashes - Let's bring back a dead crewmember nobody knows or cares about!
Bound - What were they thinking?

But....all seven season of Voyager are already avialable on DVD. This set would be redundant.

My all time worst Trek offering: Manhunt. With a title like that, we deserved an episode better than "Mrs. Troi is horney!"

TOS:
Spock's Brain
The Way to Eden
And the Children Shall Lead

Sub Rosa
The Royale
Menage a Troi
Imaginary Friend
The Outcast

DS9:
Move Along Home
Let He Who is Without Sin
Profit and Lace
The Sound of Her Voice
Heart of Stone

What was that one episode of TNG (I forgot the name of it) where Troi, her mom, and Worf were sitting in a jacuzzi in the holodeck? I remember a lot of bad TNG episodes but this episode is the only one to make me feel almost physically ill after watching it. :guffaw:

"Coming of Age"

I would nominate the following for consideration:

"Impulse"
"Genesis"
"Once Upon a Time"
"And the Children Shall Lead"
"Miri"

"Coming of Age"

Are you sure it was "Coming of Age"? I remember said episode being in one of the later seasons...

These are my all time least favorite episodes:

Shades of Gray - A clip show? Are you kidding me!

Fair Haven - They're holograms, and not like the Doctor. WHO GIVES A CRAP ABOUT THEM! And why should I care that Janeway wants to turn the holodeck into a d---- that she can stand in!

Spirit Folk - See above. They made a sequel to the worst episode of Star Trek? That's just brilliant.

Friendship One - This wasn't a horrible episode until the last thirty seconds. Janeway says "But [exploration] can't justify the loss of lives...whether it's millions ... Or just one." Is this Star Trek or some mindless, anti-science propaganda! Yes, the loss of any life, one or a million, is sad, and should be avoided as best as possible. But we're flawed, remember! That's why we explore. We're trying to become better, to become as close to perfect as possible. Along the way terrible things will happen as a result of our flaws. Lives will be lost, and missed forever. But their sacrifice will push us forward toward our goal to prevent more losses. How dare the writers suggest we should just sit on our porches watching the grass grow because we might sneeze on whoever we meet out there. And then there's "Star Trek: Insurrection." But that's a topic for another thread. :scream:

Dishonorable Mentions:

The Way to Eden
Threshold
Vis a Vis
Demon
The Disease
Alice
These Are The Voyages

I know this list is kind of ST:V heavy. Voyager is my favorite series, but I can't deny it produced a heck of a lot of dogs.

It's the slightly similarly 'Cost of Living' :)

My top offenders from my top series.

TOS: The Eden episode - because "Spock's Brain" deserves company.

TNG: The eco-terrorist/warp speed limit episode

DS9: The one where Sisko falls in love with a telepathic projection of a married woman

Can't even bother looking up the episode titles. My apologies.

reckon these should be rated as the worst trek
Spock's Brain
The Way to Eden
And the Children Shall Lead
Turnabout Intruder
Miri
The Alternative Factor
fair haven
Move Along Home
Let He Who is Without Sin

While not my personal favorite series, I did realize something about the show: When it was good, it was good. When it was bad, it was bad.
