We need: people who have skill/experience/knowledge in software authoring, in kinematic control, sensor specialist, mechanical theory

Also, people who have any technical, scientific, mathematical, computational, or engineering skills, general problem solving skills, and artistic design skills, to volunteer as a consultant, or to participate more directly.

So are you still up for making a robot of some kind? What are your current thoughts on the outward appearance of the robot? Have you considered things like stability and arm reach?

Well I was thinking more along the lines of a roller-bot, something that has an ultra-sonic sensor and a line-following eye.

I've built those at work, now I'm curious if I can knock one together at home using my stuff.

Thinking about the size of a shoebox, with a little cargo platform to hold a beer-can.

Using what I have here I can use a simple ultrasonic sensor to make it stop if there is an obstruction and beep.

Don't want it to be too smart otherwise it'll roll off with my beer and sell it to a teenager and use the money to arm itself.

Well, even the Terminators and Hunter-Killers started out as a rolling shoebox... Terminator 3 told me so.
