But yeah, she could be in there somewhere. Why not? Something sensible though. Shes too young to be an officer. Maybe a family member. Damsel in distress? Young Princess of some planet?

Sure, go for it. I wish they'd made Chekov female, the male/female balance is decidedly skewed and it's not like they could've made him any less interesting by doing so.

This is epic fail. Pike isn't Captain anymore... So NO Number One.

Pike had a long career and Number One might very well have been a part of it in the new universe. Just because she no longer serves with him in the movie doesn't mean she doesn't exist. I imagine she's commanding her own ship by now. It would be fun to see her again... they could call her "Captain" without ever using her actual name.
