Is anyone else hoping that in the next Kelvin timeline Star Trek film, the crew switches to an updated version of the “monster maroon” uniforms that debuted in Wrath of Khan? I have always loved them.

Keep the jackets short and tight!!!

Aside from the sleeve stripes, I really like what they did with the TOS uniform concept in the Kelvin-verse, so I'd be reluctant to give that up.

Then I remember that I hate the Kelvin-verse and don't really care what they do, so let loose the M&M's!

The only update I could imagine is adding little symbols all over the jackets

I think with Strange New Worlds putting its cast in a version of the classic TOS tunics it'd make a lot of sense for the next Kelvin movie to move up to a new set of uniforms. The Kelvin films should look distinct from the current TV series and updated Wrath of Khan costumes would do the job.

They could even say they were inspired by Spock's picture in Beyond :D

Well, they're going to need to make new uniforms, since the ones they had for the first three films were either sold at auctions or are just too old to be reused.

But bringing back the maroons? Highly doubtful.

I love the Monster Maroons, and I personally would prefer, strongly, that they not revisit them. However, I also realize that new uniforms are needed. So, I like some of these ideas:

I would modify the duty uniform perhaps, and maybe just use a design based on the Yorktown jumpsuit.

I know that plenty of people like them but, honestly, I've never really been a fan. They've had 5 TOS movies, plus a few appearances in TNG -- that's more than enough for me.

    Bring on the maroons!

But various ideas from the movies can and should be taken to create a new experience.
    • The admirals wear the TMP admiral’s uniform, with some of them wearing service ribbons
    • Spock can have his black robe from TMP
    • Bones can have the white medical uniform from TMP & TWOK; wears the maroons for formal events
    • Scotty can have his Starfleet bomber jacket and engineering vest
    • Kirk can wear the maroon vest from GEN
    • Uhura can switch between skirt and pants at will
    • Carol Marcus can be in the maroons uniform too if she’s in the next movie
    • Starfleet security can wear the uniforms & helmets in TSFS when Kirk stole the Enterprise
    • The background extras in Starfleet settings can wear the bland blue/green uniforms from TMP for …something else
    • Romulans, if in, wear the blue Romulan uniform in TUC
    • Klingons can keep the same masked helmets and uniforms they’ve worn through the Kelvin movies. But lose the ridge piercings. The EV suits can be like in TWOK, but with the gravity boots of TFF

I’m not sure what your point is?

They are likely to give the crew new uniforms to distinguish them from SNW, as to not confuse the audience, even though the audience is intelligent enough to notice the difference. The TMP uniforms were derided as bad, even though the admiral’s uniform in that film was aright and the CMO uniform made it to TWOK, so that pretty much leaves the maroons, unless you want them to wear street clothes or wear the Discovery S1-2 uniforms. And I think that CBS sold the Disco uniforms.

These movies, if the use the maroons unforms, might even be the gateway to getting a show set in the largely unexplored Lost Era. Which would be Star Trek doing something new.

We might even get a Kelvinverse Stargazer movie, since the maroons were still in use then. Let alone Kelvinverse movies with the Ent-B and Ent-C

There are far more positives than negatives in seeing the maroons make a return.

My point is that the list of items is basically a "Greatest Hits" list from the TOS films.

With due respect, I don't want that from the next Kelvin film. I don't want monster maroons, or any variant of the costuming there. In short, I want them to do something new.

I'm not a big fan of the monster maroons myself, at least as a daily duty uniform. They look more like a dress uniform to me. In the KelvinVerse, I could picture some variant maybe being used for a specific division of the Admiralty, or something. Kind of like how the gray admiral uniforms had some resemblance to Kirk's getup from TMP.

Same here. I think that if something along the lines of the maroon is developed then it needs to be as a dress uniform. I think the Kelvin films have rightfully utilized division colors better than the maroons or TMP films did, and moving away from that trend is not a good idea.

I welcome a new uniform. Just not the Maroons.

I'm having a mental image of Dudley Do-Right being drummed out of Starfleet for eating his peas with a knife. Perhaps at a state dinner with the Klingon Chancellor.
