Lessons

For whatever reason, this episode just didn't do it for me. Perhaps it was too much flute-playing. Perhaps it was Nella's hairstyle. Perhaps I just preferred the Vash character as a foil for Picard.

One of my favourite episodes of TNG.

And I don't tend to like the slower paced episodes like this much. But Lessons was fantastic. Although I did think the ending felt a little off.

^ I never even got that from the Vash/Picard pairing. She was like, the antithisis (sp?) of everything Picard stood for. She was so dishonest, and so out for herself (and money?) ....... i don't know. That pairing just gives me the heebie jeebies!

With Vash, I always got the feeling that Picard, being a reserved guy, probably doesn't get layed too much, and meeting Vash, a woman willing and ready to boink him, he cautiously let off his guard and jumped in the sack with her.

Now he feels embarrased about that incident, and is glad the whole thing is behind him until she shows up again in that next episode.

:techman: Picard and Vash have a very compelling 'battle of wills' dynamic to their relationship. To me, Vash is Bacall to Picard's Bogart. Watch Bogart and Bacall in the classic movie "To Have and Have Not" and then watch "Captain's Holiday."

And when Vash breaks into the captain's quarters, does Picard call security? No. He has her spend the night with him and feeds her breakfast the next morning.

Vash is just too cool!

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie
