LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ Set

LEGO has unveiled photos of the forthcoming release of their LEGO Ghostbuster Firehouse HQ Set, which will be released in January for $350. The set includes mini-figures of Peter, Ray, Igor, Winston, Janine, Dana, Louis, the library ghost, and a zombie ghost driver. Slimer is also available as its own piece attachable to the building.

As amazing as that set looks, I'm not sure if I want to drop that much money for the set.

It says there is a ghost containment unit... but no basement?
aka... take my money, Lego....

Looks really cool but with a tag of $350 (well the corresponding € price for me)... sorry, nope.

Ah, my credit card. Is there anything you can provide me?

This is a must-by for me. Looks awesome and to be a great build. The price-point seems more-or-less on track with Lego's pricing and what I would have expected from a set like this when also factoring in the licensing costs.

The mini-figs for the GBs are going to be redundant to the Ecto-1 set but, meh. Can't wait for this!

Lego sets are way too expensive. heck the Ecto 1 set is what, $40 or $50?

I love the Ecto-1 set, but I'm pretty mixed on this at first glance. Legos unfortunately are very expensive nowadays and it would take a lot for me to spend $350 on anything. I'd need to see more pics to really justify that, as tempting as it is otherwise.

This set needs to be connected to a high pressure water hose to blow the roof off... Or maybe an glitter (air) cannon?

Yeah, $350 is a normal LEGO price point these days. Which doesn't mean it's not expensive. But I'm not sure I'd be willing to buy this, as tempting as it is, and I'm the biggest Ghostbusters fan going.

No dobut in my mind now that something like this is mainly aimed at the AFOL crowd.

I gotta say, knowing full well the pain of escalating Lego prices, that particular set (21108) is a steal. Great figs and the price is worth it. In my opinion, of course! The vehicle is really well designed, too bad they didn't have the same success with the BTTF DeLorean.

It's less than the old 10 cents/piece, right?

Yeah, I need to see photos of interior before I seriously consider buying it.

I have the BTTF DeLorean and it looks okay, but kind of poorly "designed." But that's mostly probably from having to stick to Minifig scale. But the Minifig scale Ecto-1 looks very nice.

The original LEGO cuscoo (now Ideas) DeLorean was superior to what the released product was, right? That was the stinger with that one, I think.

It'll be interesting if the production firehouse is similar to the Ideas one internally.

Lego didn't "steal" anything. It's part of the "Lego Ideas" system where people submit their designs/builds and if they get enough support Lego will look into making an official set, giving the designer a cut of the profits from the sales.
