Spoilers Legion season 2

Okay, here's the question that popped into my head while watching last night. Sure, hardly the only question, since nothing in this show makes sense, but one that's been nagging at me a bit:

So there are all these people stored in the room, standing paralyzed with their teeth constantly chattering. Even aside from all the other maintenance and hygiene questions... how come the men don't all have beards? It'd be pretty darn hard to shave them in that condition.

I also wondered if the cow could be some external manifestation of the Minotaur.

For some reason, there's nothing funnier to me than a totally random cow where it doesn't belong.
"Don't touch anything."

Exploring people's minds has been my favorite part of the show, so naturally I loved this episode. I could spend forever in Ptonomy's garden because I'm a sucker for a good hedge maze, although I do wish we had seen more of the maze itself than the bird's-eye view. Melanie's mind was a fun harking back to text-based video games and we get another glimpse the bizarre beast that's been stalking her thoughts. Considering both of them featured mazes, I expect we'll see an even more elaborate one for Syd in the next episode and hopefully for Kerry, too.

I enjoyed watching Cary trying to teach Kerry to become more comfortable with existing separately in the physical world, but I wonder after her infection, if Cary will feel guilty about pushing her to do that and decides to keep her closer, if and when she's cured.

Perhaps all of that has been "suspended" during the infection? No feeding, drinking, sleeping, ergo no beard growing.

I loved that!

They are shaved by Occam's razor.

I keep wanting them to slip in a mouthguard on the teeth chatterers. I guess you're just supposed to be unnerved by it and not think too much on it.

I do feel they are slipping a little too hard into "crazy shit happens" for sixty minutes which despite the nutty first season I don't remember feeling was a problem.

I forgot to mention this before, but I thought showing the chalkboard drawing of Farouk's demise from last season on the reflection of his glasses before his body died in the opening was a nice touch.

I didn't even notice what that was in his sunglasses. It was only when he collapsed that I realized "Oh, this is a flashback to his battle with Xavier, and the reflections must've been their battle on the astral plane!" But I couldn't tell it was the same chalk drawings, because my TV's resolution (or my eyes') isn't good enough.

I'm glad the show took the opportunity to explore the nature of Syd's upbringing and how that affected her psyche because I've been wondering about that since the beginning. I'm also glad the show spent a whole episode chewing on those issues instead of being a sidebar like we saw for Ptonomy and Melanie last episode. That said, I am little disappointed that we didn't get the chance to see Kerry/Cary's maze. Maybe another time...

The shower scenario felt awfully familiar. Was that something that was at least alluded to last season or am I thinking of another show or film (i.e. a teenage girl swapping bodies with her mother so she could experience sex)?

I keep meaning to bring this up, but it's weird that David hasn't asked after his sister, Amy. Where and when did we see her last?

Does anyone know who covered "White Room" and "Burning Down the House" because I really liked those renditions?

Thanks for the link! I imagine it's right because Shazam identified the Tame Impala and Bon Iver songs (it just couldn't identify these covers). Hopefully the covers will be included on the season two soundtrack.

I totally forgot that I noticed last week the closed captions will identify the song and artist when they play. For White Room and Bringing Down the House it only showed the song which corroborates that. Thought I'd mention it since it's kind of handy if you are trying to ID a song though without Shazam or similar.

Now that you mention it, that did seem familiar.

Syd recounted the story of switching bodies with her mother to David, when he asked whether it was her first time, back in "Chapter 5."

Anybody know who did the paintings in the gallery? I'm wondering if it was Bill Seinkewicz (sp??), the Marvel artist who did (among other things) Legion. The art was a little tame for his usual throwing-paint-and-objects-at-the-canvas style, but it did remind me of him, and it would be neat.

Okay, I found something on the art - There IS a connection:
A museum exhibit of Egon Schiele’s artwork is a recurring location in Syd’s memory, and while his paintings are examined in relation to Syd’s life, his work also has a connection to David Haller’s comic-book roots. David’s co-creator, artist Bill Sienkiewicz, was inspired by Schiele’s Self-Portrait for the character’s original design, and he took visual cues from Schiele’s expressionist imagery for David’s first comic story.

Dear gods, that was horrifically cruel of Farouk. Lenny got her wish, to be separated from his mind and exist in a physical body again, but it came at a terrible cost. I am glad giving Lenny a body wasn't as simple assembling the atoms together, an opposite to the dusting deaths, and with the use of a particular device that he stole from Division 3 (now we know why he showed up there), but that was a horrible fate for Amy. I'm glad the issue of "Where is Amy?" has been resolved, but I still think it's strange that David didn't ask anyone about her when he returned. The remaining question is why did Farouk do this? He's clearly been planning this move for awhile now, so it's not inherently connected to David's forced desire to help Farouk find his body.

Also, seeing Aubrey Plaza with blue eyes is just plain weird.

Edited to add: Who was the bald figure in the extreme close-up of Oliver's right eye? At first I thought it might been Farouk but I wonder if it was suppose to be Charles Xavier? The image wasn't clear.

Ah! Thanks for that. I figured there must've been a local connection.

FX has ordered an additional episode for season 2. Seems odd to be adding a new episode to a season that's halfway through but perhaps it happened awhile ago and the news is only just breaking because of broadcast scheduling. I guess Hawley needed a bit more narrative room to bring season 2 to a proper conclusion.
