Morricone composed some of the greatest film music of all time. The work he did for director Sergio Leone alone would have been enough to make him a legend in the field. Here are some examples of his extraordinary themes:

He passed away today at the age of 91 from injuries from a fall from a few days ago.

Very sorry to hear this. He was one of the very best composers out there and I love listening to his themes. Cinema Paradiso, The Untouchables, For a Few Dollars More, The Mission, Malena, Once Upon a Time in America... the list of great music he created is long and varied.

"No, no, no, you sing 'Ah a a' and YOU sing 'Wah wah wah'." For me, the most stressful thing would be to whistle on command, "Ok, here I go, phhwwwphh oh crap."

The intro from Hateful 8 has really grown on me a lot.

Feels appropriate right now.

I can't speak to his later music, but his music elevated those early Leone Westerns to something mythic and epic and it's one of the reasons why they are the few Westerns I enjoy.

RIP Ennio
