I vividly remember his work with Neal Adams for DC in the 60s on Batman & Green Lantern/Green Arrow. To me, that's how those characters are supposed to look.

RIP, Mr. Giordano.

I agree - that look is the look that I still think of when I think about Batman. It's one of the reasons I've always loved the yellow bat symbol more than the black one.

Just read his obit in The New York Times. A terrific inker and artist in his own right as well as, for comic books, anyway, a visionary. His role as an editor in approving Man of Steel and Crisis on Infinite Earths, both game-changing series, can't be underestimated.
