Legend of the Seeker cancelled?

The current (and sadly the next to last) episode of LOTS, "Unbroken" was written by Mike Sussman, who has worked on Voyager and Enterprise. So I don't think it was a coincidence that Zed used some Vulcan in casting a spell. I distinctly heard him say "koon-ut kal-if-fee" twice.

So what does that mean? Is that from the Amok Time?

Did anybody notice the major Darken Rahl fault in 2-21 today?

They revealed two weeks ago that Darken Rahl was a Baneling (and therefore had to kill everyday to stay alive) and had been one since a young man, but in the world where he was under the Seeker's control and therefore couldn't be killing everyday he would have died after a couple days.

Kinda annoying that the PTB's forgot this after two weeks, but not annoying to start its own thread.

In ancient Vulcan it means "Marriage or Challenge". Yes, it's from Amok Time.

My partner was ecstatic this was cancelled.

He had read the books and when he saw the pilot in 2008, he was appalled at how they had watered it down and made it into Hercules/Xena-lite.

I tend to think the majority of people who liked this series never read the books or even knew they existed until this series began...

But then I think it said in the opening credits that the series was based off the books, but wasn't a direct adaptation.

Yeah, well...maybe Darken Rahl lied about being a Baneling. Or Zed's spell altered more than just Kara's past. Or they got the shadow water.

Or...shit, I'm gonna miss this show. It was more enjoyable than most stuff on.

I was more appalled at how the books ended up then the some of the premise being given a sort of Hercules/Xena slant to them. If the Richard of the TV series was more like the book Richard and running around spouting off long monologues like he's Glenn Beck I would have punched in my tv set.

The only thing I'm not liking too much about this finale is that they're repeating the whole thing from S1 where they're in an alternate reality. It seems like going back to the well once too many for me.

I just might watch wrestling for once if they did that. They'd probably get ugly women for the wrestling though.

Yep, if there's one criticism of WWE's women's division it's that they're all ugly. :shifty:

It actually used to be more interesting when they were homely and could actually wrestle(Wendi Richter, Fabulous Moolah), rather than the big titted bimbos of today.

That's my point. Both of WWE's female champions are Diva Search winners.

Frankly, he doesn't give two shits if you or anybody else likes it.

A book series he really enjoyed was being bastardized and he is happy that treatment is over.

The book series' author, Terry Goodkind, does support the tv series. Check the May 9 entry on his website http://terrygoodkind.com/news.html

One thing to consider is that the tv series may lead viewers to want to check out the books.

Just supports my theory that having fans that become "hardcore" is actually bad for a product. Suddenly they have to be satisfied, even if it's not actually part of the creator's vision.

Why are they wasting time on an alternate universe story when they only have two episodes left? Maybe they should be, oh I dunno, focusing on the seasonal plot. An alternate universe episode is something you pull in the middle of a season. Focus on the arc! It was a good episode, but it also guaranteed yet another rushed finale.

It is part of the seasonal arc.

Also, do you mean wasting time with only 2 episodes left to the series? The episodes were filmed before Tribune decided not to distribute the series.

It's very much part of the arc. If nothing else, we learned why Zeddicus can't just wave his hands and fix everything. We also learned that the Keeper is largely immune to changes in the time stream, so even if Zedd could just wave his hands to make everything better, the Keeper would continue to thwart him.

^ Not really. The episode devoted no time to Universe A (the important one), and instead gave us a "Mirror, Mirror" or "The Wish". The writers really should be focusing on Universe A.

They had the same problem last season too. The first season finale spent 35 minutes with Kahlan in the alternate future and about 5 minutes were spent with Richard defeating Rahl in the main timeline. Hopefully we get a little more than 300 seconds devoted to defeating the big bad this time.

Yes, really.

First of all, there was no Universe A or B. Zedd's actions completely wiped everything that happened away, resulting in completely different events up until his point in time. He didn't jump to some alternate universe. There weren't two different universes existing simultaneously. He accidently changed time, plain and simple, and didn't realize how important Kara's role was until he did so. That, too, was one of the big reveals as part of the seasonal arc.

Second, as previously stated, we also learned that the Keeper is immune to changes in the timeline. That even when Zeddicus (even if unintentionally) unleashes amazingly powerful magicks, the Keeper would still be a very real threat... and one that they wouldn't be prepared for if he did try to tinker with the timeline.

Third, the seasonal arc continued despite the changes. The Keeper's plan simply changed to adjust to it, and the heroes, would-be heroes, and never-were heroes all played a part in those events.

Your insistence on comparing it to other shows, and being oblivious to the fact that it's very much a part of the seasonal arc, is a failing on your part, not the show's.
