Legend of the Seeker cancelled?

they only have themselves to blame.... if they would have stuck to plot's closer to the book instead of going of on left tangents, i think they woulda done a lot better.

I doubt if many viewers actually care if the series stuck to the story in the books or not.

As someone who hadn't heard of the book until I watched the series, I certainly didn't. And if the show was/is going to be successful, it would have to appeal to the non-book-seeker viewers, who would vastly outnumber the people who read the books.

I'm one of the people that doesn't care about the books. I hadn't even heard of them before the show, even though they were sitting on my girlfriend's bookshelf before the show had aired. I remember walking past the books at the book store hundreds of times now that I know what the cover art looks like.

I just enjoy the show. I get a little medieval action adventure and there is plenty of eye candy(Hot blonde in red leather! Hell yes!). I keep hoping that the Mighty Bruce Campbell will appear in at least one episode.

Viewers who haven't read the books might not care but in my opinion some of the changes they have made were not necessary and were not as good as the book's storyline. The Season 1 finale is a good example of this. Richard defeated Rahl in a much more clever way than what they came up with and it would still have fit in with the changes they had already made. The only reason I can think of for the changes is that they wanted to maintain more sexual tension between Richard and Kahlan.

It would be nice if it could move to SyFy channel since they picked up Merlin after NBC decided not to bring it back.

I would assume all of Seeker's international agreements remain in place or are negotiated separately from the Tribune Stations in the United States so they'd still have their same international market.

Is it available on DVDs?

I have been meaning to check it out but was hoping that I would do that after Lost ends as a "summer" feature.

I'm glad to hear it's not really canceled. I know somebody who works on the show. :bolian:

No, actually, it doesn't.

Tribune not renewing their order (likely because they're bankrupt) does not necessarily equate to cancellation.

I don't mean to sound like an ass here, so please don't interpret it that way but ... what is the substantive point you're trying to make?

The thread asked if the show had been canceled. It has not been. No link to any news or official response had been posted, so I linked back to an article that, realistically, explains the situation as accurately as can be found online.

So, I'm kind of confused about what the point is behind this back-and-forth between us?

It's at risk, at least, seeing as how the company that was airing it has decided it no longer wants to do so. Certainly not "safe" at the moment, until they find a new buyer...

I was just saying that the article basically reiterates what was said originally, that it didn't provide any new information. Not trying to get into a pissing match so yeah I agree the argument's dropped.

I still haven't finished the first season - I watched the first few episodes, liked it enough where I would've bought the boxed set, but they refuse to sell it to me in HD. :)
