Legacy Mods

Hi all,
I got Legacy when it first came out but wasn't very impressed and didn't even finish all the missions.
It's been a while now though and I've read about some good mods. So, my questions:
1 Do the mods actually make the game better, as in: more playable, more fun, more realistic, more exciting?
2 Do you use one mod per installation or is there a mod which is comprehensive or which incorporates other mods or which lets you choose between mods?
3 Which are the best mods out there?

The mods definately improve the game. I reccomend the Ultimate Universe mod. You can use as many mods as you like per installation but they aren't usually compatiable with each other so it's kind of pointless to do so.

Well, it certainly looks a lot of fun ... is there a way to make it feel more fun too? ie. a mod so you can reassign keys that is compatible with UU? And are there any other additions one should have?
