Spoilers Legacy characters in Season 3

Paramount+ unveiled a preview clip of the forthcoming third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds at New York Comic Con today, alongside the news that guest star Rhys Darby (Our Flag Means Death) would be aboard for the ride.

The three-minute clip follows the ship outmaneuvering and eventually outpacing enemy combatants. Its release follows an earlier preview shared in late July, alongside the news of Cillian O’Sullivan (In from the Cold) joining as a recurring guest star in the legacy role of Dr. Roger Korby. Meanwhile, details of Darby’s character have yet to be revealed.

yeah, that's most likely.

Emony was probably older than McCoy when she met him in 2245, but not that much older. So, barring unusual circumstances, she can certainly still be the host in 2260.

Then again, if Emony IS Dax in 2260, then something bad must happen to Audrid, as Audrid died in 2285...

IIRC, Emony Dax was featured in a Disco novel where she gets involved in a Section 31 adventure with Georgiou which involves the Farragut's encounter with the vampire cloud.

It is a Star Trek novel, after all.

I also seem to remember another novel where Audrid meets Christopher Pike...something about the discovery of the bluegill parasites, one of which ends up taking over Audrid's husband.

Still, if Dax were to turn up in SNW, I guess the writer could make it Emony or Audrid without any fear of breaking continuity.

Whichever it is, Trill is probably not yet a member of the Federation. Otherwise, why would Jadzia have had to hide her spots in "Trials and Tribble-ations"?

maybe Shran
In STO, there is a descendant of Shran who captains the USS Sebrova named Thy'kir Shran voice by Jeffery Combs. Maybe Combs could play a live action version on SNW?

Maybe not. But there was a Trill serving in Starfleet, on the USS Cabot in "The Trouble with Edward". And a Trill in the Orion cabaret club on Qo'noS in "Will You Take My Hand?". So Trill aren't unusual to the Federation by this time. Dax hiding her spots would have to be for another reason.

Plus in the alternate ending of Disco S1 showing Leland meeting Georgiou, Leland was disguised as a Trill while still claiming to be with Section 31.

A Trill on a ship of mostly humans would certainly stand out, especially if there were no Trill assigned to that ship.

People are saying Rhys Darby is McCoy but I'm not seeing it. (He's also too old for McCoy's age at the timeframe). Same for being too old for Sybok honestly. He could be Mark Piper though, but that character is so obscure I can't see how the showrunners would expect anyone to be hyped up about it the way they seem to be advertising

Could he be playing someone who's been mentioned but never seen? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head, but that's what came to mind.
